Topic: Tired of being single for a long time | |

why don't all the singles who hate being single just get together? pair off in man/woman groups and just enjoy. wouldn't that work? Because everyone on this forum is either too old, or too far, or both. I have searched my zip code within 25 miles, and only 2 are around me. ;-( I am only on here for advice. try okcupid, lots of kids on there, you might have a blast. hope our advice is helpful, grasshopper. |

i've heard that before, familiarity breeds contempt, i do believe. Well, for me, the problem tends to be boredom moreso than familiarity. I tend to end up with people who are marginally interesting for about 3 months; then they turn into cardboard cutouts and get MySpace accounts. well at least they were interesting for 3 months; the guys i go for don't last nearly that long. btw i'm the queen of myspace, and i rock |

that and people are too picky. i know i am; every time i see a guy i find interesting i read his profile and i'm like damn, he won't do because of a flaw i can't abide. It's sad, isn't it? I only have 3 deal-breakers, but they exclude about 178% of all women in the world. That makes it difficult to find one who actually meets the criteria (let alone the obvious problems with the math), and so I have to hope there's someone out there who isn't completely locked in to the "traditional model," whatever that means. |

(i'm totally serious when i say this) |

Being single is getting old but I am also happy with my life.
Just when I think I'm 'really over being single' something will remind me what a pain in the azzzzzz a relationship can be if I am with the wrong person. I'll just have fun, hang out, and see what comes my way! |

I bet the very people who complain about being single for so long would complain about being in a relationship after a while. I'm going to try to enjoy myself....ummm, I mean my alone time....ummm, that doesn't sound good either. What I mean is, enjoy what you have and accept what you don't have at this time.
Damn, I was too slow! Good point Melody Girl l |

Is anyone out there so tired of being single? |

Actually, it's starting to grow on me. I am actually happy and enjoying living my life. Maybe single is just a state of mind.

After two years of being single I love and hate being single all at the same time. I love the freedom that I have to do whatever and whenever yet I hate not having the closeness that you get in a relationship too... a good one that is. So I'm in no rush to find Mr. Right just to settle with Mr. Anybody will do...

(i'm totally serious when i say this) Yeah, I have been through this a lot -- they SAY they're attracted to the fact that I'm so abjectly non-traditional -- "I love everything about you!" -- and then, 3 months later (you could set your watch by this) it turns into "Now I have to CHANGE everything about you!" Sorry, girls, I just can't fall into that traditio-goato-domestico modality what you was figgerin' on. Just ain't fer me, dontcha know. |

Yeah, I'm in the same boat -- been single for almost a year now, and it's getting old. I'm just having a really hard time finding someone compatible.... lower your standards j/k Hey, last time I did that I ended up married! I'll second that!!! |

try okcupid, lots of kids on there, you might have a blast. hope our advice is helpful, grasshopper. I dated someone from that site, and no way would I go anywhere near any of those people again unless I'm wearing a Hazmat suit and standing behind a 9-foot thick brick wall. |

he said the people here were too old for him; the last time i was on cupid all these racist 20 somethings had taken over, so i figure that might be a good crowd for him since he's young. but yeah, for me cupid is a joke. I've noticed a lot of sites where the demographic initially seems to skew "older," but when you look more closely, you also find a whole lot of 19-year-olds with very traditionalist, locked-in mindsets. It's not the chronological age so much as it is the unwillingness to step outside the box and consider something beyond what the parents/granparents/greatgrandparents preached as a mandatory lifestyle. But even the "alternative" sites, which are ostensibly geared toward a younger crowd, seem densely populated with traditionalists. They just dress differently from the ones we're used to. |
