saw a little man today, alone and seemed so sad,
I asked if I could help him, and his smile was not so bad. he asked me could I take the time to set with him awhile, tho hurried, I had no way to resist his feeble smile. he rummaged thru a backpack, and as he did he said, I found a little trinket, and wish to share it 'fore I'm dead. he found what he was looking for, held out his wrinkled hand, within it lay a simple ring, quite like a wedding band. with tear filled eyes he looked at me, voice trembling, then he said 'twas Rosies, long I loved her, freckled face and hair of red. I'm off to meet her, this very day, take this, hold it tight, give it to, the woman who, you find to share your light... he closed his eyes and breathed his last, peaceful smile upon his face, now I'm back in the turmoil of belonging to the human race, I carry the ring on a golden chain, looking every day, for the woman who will share the light, he shared with me that day. |
