Topic: Weirdest thing you've ever eaten?? | |

A lot of food I've had I didn't even know what it was.
I guess one of the strangest was the fried scorpions on a stick as street food in China. Tastes like crispy pork. The list is quite long. |

To those who want to travel in China, here are some tips.
China is accustomed to being a "controlled" society. They will assume that you want to eat at the hotel because that is the easiest for them to control (and make a profit). They will assume you want to eat American food most of the time so will typically set the hotel up for an American buffet. Simply ignore it and walk around the hotel till you find the Chinese buffet and eat there. The food will be ten times better and no one will care (no matter where you are in China). Chinese food is nothing like "American Chinese food". Regardless of what they plan for you to eat, go find the street food vendors (they will not be hard to find). The dumplings will be the best you can get anywhere and will have infinite variety. Beware the strange looking meat unless you want to eat dog. The food costs almost nothing so get some help from your tour guide in paying for it. Snake wine actually contains snake and isn't really wine. |

Shark, alligator, woodchuck, turtle (the eggs weren't bad, but oy, the meat in soup just bounces around in your mouth), rattlesnake, and frogs legs. Puffer fish, we umm didn't know about the poison aspect when we moved to FL and luckily when my dad cleaned them, he didn't nick the bile duct or liver or whatever part has the contamination to the meat ability, so it was just pretty good fish to us.
