Obama Plans Indefinite Terror Detentions
Posted Jun 26, 09 5:14 PM

(Newser) – In a move that echoes the Bush administration’s approach to terror suspects, the Obama White House has drafted an executive order that would allow for their indefinite detention, the Washington Post reports. The move is said to be motivated by growing concerns that President Obama won’t be able to strike a deal with Congress over closing the Guantanamo Bay prison camp.

The White House is also afraid it won’t be able to meet Obama’s January deadline for closing Guantanamo, the sources added. Though civil-liberties groups have protested mightily indefinite-detention policies, they “ have encouraged the administration, that if a prolonged detention system were to be sought, to do it through executive order,” one official said. Such a move could then be overwritten and supplanted by actual legislation.

My new word for President Obama - FLAKE

During his campaign, Obama was about as far from Bush foreign policies as anyone could be. So what does Obama do? He keeps Bush's Secretary of Defense and 60 % of Bush's staff. Not so easy is it Mr. President.

Elected on lies......

That's what politics are all about hun. They will lead people to believe their will be change. But, Change is not that quick and easy and promises are not being fullfilled once elected. Did you ever heard about this saying "Politicians are crook?".

Obama, promise to pull out our troops from foreign countries who are fighting for wars ei: irag, afghanistan, and other military out stations around the globe. Now, he is adding more military troops, what the heck? and what happened to his promised? It went down the drain once he was elected. Very disappointing specially for someone who we think is our only hope for hope in this country.

The reality is that in similar circumstances, they often take similar action. Much of this is because the intelligence infrastructure and advice stream remains unchanged.

And it should go without saying that they will say ANYTHING to get elected.
