Well everyone,
I just thought you might like to know what the discussion in class one day last week was. It was about security on the internet. How wireless networks even with WEP or WPA security can be hacked within minutes literally. Then the professor puts the computer on the overhead and pulls up google latitude. OMG imagine anyone with a cell phone can be tracked on that stuff through the built in GPS feature that is required for E911 compatibility of the cell phone. Well for the average person you have to opt into it but the Police or government can use it without permission anytime they want I believe. Think about that a minute. Looking at google earth and seeing where your buddies are at any given moment from your phone or computer. This kind of stuff makes people want to give up the internet |

Not only that, but I have read that they can listen in via your cell phone, without your knowing anytime it is turned on, even if no call is being made.

maybe the cops are too busy for that but if anyone on your contact list can see where you are then they also know when your not home or close which could be a bad thing if they were BGs on your contact list that you did not know and trust.
That thing can be set to show everyone where you are as well. It is a major security threat. Besides cops are not there to protect citizens from crime it is their job to catch the criminals after they commit the crime and bring them to justice. |
