I broke up with someone over smoking. They refused to smoke outside. I couldn't even see inside his apartment because between he and his son smoking it filled up the living room.

Does smoking matter to you in a relationship? Would not get involved with someone because they do or do not smoke? Would you quit smoking if your partner asked you to? Smoking really isn't a consideration for me. I've never smoked a cigarette in my life, but it doesn't bother me if someone else does. I've dated lots of smokers, even my last gf smoked; and, while I would naturally prefer that they quit at some point, simply for the health reasons, it's not a deal-breaker. |

I am a smoker. I don't smoke in my home, restaurants and stay far away from others when smoking. It is my choice and I don't impose it on others. That said, I didn't like lectures as a kid and I dislike them even more now. I will quit when I am ready and if that limits my dating potential, so be it.

But seriously I was a heavy smoker for about 8 years. Quit when I was 20.  I wouldn't say smoking would be a deal breaker but I would prefer that my date was not a smoker. It kinda makes me want a smoke when I'm around someone who is smoking.

They need to accept me and love me the way I am, because I will be the same way with their habits. |

quitting smoking is not that big of a deal. Hell I've quit a hundred times

I wouldn't quit because he asked me too. I would only quit for me....not others. plus he would know before that I smoke. Although smoking isn't good for me, I concur. |

I think you have to find that will power for yourself
not for others. I am a quit'r, i quit after each smoke i have! Walks around counting smokes muttering " He loves me, He loves me not" 
 ran out of smokes!

I don't mind if he smokes
But smokers do Smell like smoke Make their homes and mine smell And kissing them tastes bad But I don't tell them what to do |
