The problem with N Korea.....is THEY MIGHT!! It is a very real fear. This leader is mad. Mad I tell you. He doesnt care for life...anyones....after all..he has nothing to lose. He is about to die anyway. This thing in Korea is a big deal to our military. They are afraid of what this could mean. They have of course been doing tests underground, and they have the tremors to prove it. Earthquakes after also. I wonder what this is doing to the ground, the vegitation and water ways from there and around the world? Kat Has any country, including the US ever given a damn what happens to the vegitation, water etc, when it comes to testing this stuff? Look what happened here in the us a while back. Hell they subjected their own people to this crap... The leader of NK is a wack job, and is so crazy I think he would rather blow up his own country that see it run by anyone else. that looks like the 2008 election map oooooppppsssssss It is a map of lingering radiation levels from all nuclear testing. |

ok what nuclear testing was done in north west corner of montana Didn't you read my answer to your last question? It would be the same for this one. no it does not fit because washington has not got any where nerar the amount of radiation that montana and idaho has so how did the wind carry it there winds run predominantly from west to east for it to be airborn contamination you would not have the cleaner spots in washington and oregan sorry that answer does not fit and why is it new mexico (where the testing occurred has lower amounts than most of the rest of the country) |

I posted a link earlier to the source of this map which was a technical government report. You might try looking there for more answers. |

it is measuring
from link to which does not have the verification link: (Per capita thyroid doses in the continental United States of Iodine-131 resulting from all exposure routes from all atmospheric nuclear tests conducted at the Nevada Test Site. Source: Slightly modified from [http://rex.nci.nih.gov/massmedia/fig1.htm) [http://rex.nci.nih.gov/massmedia/fig1.htm) this link take me to a search engine page so all it truly measures is a thyroid condition that has the same characteristics as radiation would cause it is speculation that the radiation actually caused it and it is a .wikimedia site so it could have some inconsistencies |

just would not happen sorry |

Wow what a sensitive subject. I mean we are talking about a country that is backed up by China and Russia.
There is no easy solution to this one. If the United States should just wait it out or if they should make a preemptive attack? Should the US wait for North Korea to make the first move? I know that the US should not allow to be blackmailed anymore. Enough is enough in my opinion even if they threaten to send missiles if the US doesn't accept terms. What would be the ultimate diplomatic solution to the problem? We are talking about lives here! Not a easy resolution at all. |

Either way we can both agree on the callousness of our country to unknowingly subject us to their experiments. |

I wonder if this is already being done now? If not a good idea indeed. |

Here is a little better breakdown of radiation sources.
Begin Quote: Radioactive Fallout Nuclear weapons derive their explosive power from the uncontrolled radioactive break-up of plutonium and uranium. This yields a large number of radioactive daughter products that are blown high into the atmosphere and are carried around the earth. These radioactive elements gradually fall back (fall-out) to earth over a period of many years. During the 1950s and early 1960s, many test explosions were carried out in the atmosphere. In 1963 an Atmospheric Test Ban Treaty was signed and most subsequent tests have been conducted underground. The peak year for radioactive fallout was 1963 and levels have been declining since then. Levels of fallout are now less than ten per cent of what they were at peak. We each receive approximately 1 mrem from this source each year. Nuclear Power Nuclear power reactors, which use uranium, supply the United States with about 20 percent of its electricity. Our ability to produce power using radioactive materials reduces our reliance on fossil fuels. Nuclear power plant operations account for less than a hundredth of a percent of the average American's total radiation exposure. Background Annual Average Radiation Doses to the U.S. Population Radiation Source Average Annual Whole Body Dose (mrem/year) Natural: Cosmic 26 Terrestrial 29 Radon 200 Internal (K-40, C-14, etc.) 40 Manmade: Diagnostic X-Ray 39 Nuclear Medicine 14 Consumer Products 11 All Others (fallout, nuclear power plants, air travel, occupational, etc.) 2 Average Annual Total 361 mrem/year Tobacco (If You Smoke, Add ~ 280 mrem) The tobacco in cigarettes contains lead-210. Lead-210 is a naturally occurring radionuclide that precipitates out of the atmosphere and deposits on the leaves of tobacco. When the tobacco is inhaled, the smoker receives a dose from the inhaled lead-210 as well as polonium-210, the decay product of lead-210. Lead-210 is deposited on the surfaces of bones and polonium-210 is deposited in the liver, kidney and spleen. sounds like it might be over the 4th of July... http://rokdrop.com/2009/06/18/is-north-korea-preparing-for-a-4th-of-july-missile-test/ North Korea may fire a long-range ballistic missile toward Hawaii in early July, a Japanese news report said Thursday, as Russia and China urged the regime to return to international disarmament talks on its rogue nuclear program. The missile, believed to be a Taepodong-2 with a range of up to 4,000 miles (6,500 kilometers), would be launched from North Korea’s Dongchang-ni site on the northwestern coast, said the Yomiuri daily, Japan’s top-selling newspaper. It cited an analysis by the Japanese Defense Ministry and intelligence gathered by U.S. reconnaissance satellites. The missile launch could come between July 4 and 8, the paper said. While the newspaper speculated the Taepodong-2 could fly over Japan and toward Hawaii, it said the missile would not be able to hit Hawaii’s main islands, which are about 4,500 miles (7,200 kilometers) from the Korean peninsula. A spokesman for the Japanese Defense Ministry declined to comment on the report. South Korea’s Defense Ministry and the National Intelligence Service — the country’s main spy agency — said they could not confirm it. Tension on the divided Korean peninsula has spiked since the North conducted its second nuclear test on May 25 in defiance of repeated international warnings. The regime declared Saturday it would bolster its nuclear programs and threatened war in protest of U.N. sanctions taken for the nuclear test. U.S. officials have said the North has been preparing to fire a long-range missile capable of striking the western U.S. In Washington on Tuesday, Gen. James Cartwright, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said it would take at least three to five years for North Korea to pose a real threat to the U.S. west coast. [Associated Press] |

Well, if they do...it's all over but the crying. Bye bye N Korea. One launch is all they get...then all hell breaks loose.
