So are owls... My roomie left the door open & my beloved cat "Troubles" got out...we were living in the mountains at the time...one of the locals drawled "Owl prolly got him." I was sick about that for weeks...

Quite a few Sharp Shinned Hawks around here too, although they usually go for smaller prey like other birds and field mice.

What's weird is that I have absolutely no problem with "Nature"...kill or be killed...until it comes to one of my pets...brokenheart ...like somehow they are gonna have more "human" feelings about getting eaten...

It is about your feelings not theirs. Pets do become family members. It's always tough to lose a family member...

Well, once my cat Patrick got away for the first time, was also the last time, he ran out for the first time in his life, and a white van didnt stop for him, even though they were going slowly.

He was damaged, and ran right back to me at my front door where I ran out to catch him.

We took him to the vet, and he had to get put to sleep, I suppose it was his time, he would have died slowly, and painfully.

Nowadays, Im really watchful over my pets safety, Id hate to have something happen like that again.

My lil chihuahua Geecho, was mortally wounded by the neighbor's dog (who was loose & came into MY yard)...I held him for 12hrs while he suffered & then expired (it was a Sun. & no emergency vets in the area)...I don't think I'll ever get over that...I pretty much care for animals more than most people...& yes...they are my family.
