On several beaches
with American names
but on French soil,
They landed by the thousands.

They went through HELL
watching as their fellow soldiers,
their BROTHERS, fall all around them.

They came from Waco, and Portland,
and LA, and Jersey.
From Boston, and Philly,
and Tulsa, and Atlanta.
From Chicago, and Cheyenne,
Alberta, and London.

All with one goal, one mind.
Stopping the spread of VILE.

They are our Fathers, our Uncles,
our Grampas and Greats.

They are and were
"The Greatest Generation".
Fathers to us Boomers,
Grampas to the Xers.

They are slower now,
as Father Time has worn them down.
They still have that gleam in their eyes
from when they think about
the GOOD they did,
and the Brothers they had.

Their numbers are decreasing at a fast rate,
but their legacy (US-their children) lives on.
