You are going to hear so much about food! (in the media)
We all need it in order to survive, and many Americans eat way more than
they need to thrive!
Its been said before and will ring true in the future. If you want to
stay healthy with what you eat, then eat as many Whole Foods as you can.
Meaning, when you look at the ingredients of something, if you see
something either your great grandmother would not eat, or some words you
can not even pronounce, and if it has the word fortified ro health
benifits, then think about it twice before you put that stuff in your
belly.
B12 vitamins and Omega Fatty Acids, are all the talk. And we can absorb
some of these from the foods we eat. If you are a vegetarian, then you
should know that sea vegetables and some nutritional yeast have B12 in
them, but you would need to seek other sources to get these B Vitamins.
Fish and Hemp Oils are some of the best ways to get Omega 3's and other
Fatty Acids. Fish and Hemp Seeds seem to be the best whole version of
getting these Omega Fatty Acids.
And of course back in our Great Grandmother's Age, the ground had not
suffered from being sprayed with this and that, to take care of this
bug, or to enrich this crop. Also crops were rotated, and people
practiced the wonderful art of composting and bringing the soils back
naturally. So the food that was eaten in the time of our Great
Grandmother's was much higher in nutrition and the things our bodies
needed, than what we eat today.
Now I am by no means a perfect eater. I enjoy the pleasures of many of
the so called "Taboo Foods", I enjoy them and do not get caught up in
the Fear or Guilt of eating. But I have in the past and I do today, look
for foods that are as whole as they can be. I do not mind spending that
extra money to get local foods, and support local farmers and ranchers.
I know it takes less of this food to fill my belly, and my body gets way
more value per pound on the good food, than the over processed bad food.
You do not have to eat organic food, but if you do, it sure does not
hurt, and will often have many better qualities than other foods on the
shelf or in the market produce.
Look for local grown food, buy organic or free range foods (including
wild and not farm raised fish), eat more of a variety of foods. And do
your best to feel good about what you are eating, or enjoy what you are
eating. Its really annoying to hear someone say " Oh, I know this piece
of cheese cake will put on the pounds for me, but it sure taste good
right now!". Just eat the food, and if you are going to say anything
about it say something like this, be positive and simple "This is some
Good Cheese Cake!". Enjoy what you do and what you eat, and I am sure
you will find much Happiness in the Foods that go into your body. And
make that effort to be good to your body.
