You were there

When I needed to talk

or vent with words
When I thought I was in love
and it really wasnt
You taught me the difference
between lust and love
When I wanted to get married
and changed my mind
When the real thing came along
You were there
to help and plan
a wedding ever so grand
When I found out I was with child,
and lost some too
You always listened
You were always there
Your wisdom
and your trust
Your patience
and justice
Your loving hands
when I was a girl
bandaging knees
or disciplining me
When I was going through puberty
and you offered advise
I knew it all
and didnt think twice
The world was mine
I thought
I didnt need you
but look at me now
I am YOU...

I look in the mirror
and see the lessons etched there
I hear myself
using words and learned from you
All this
and so much more
These lessons from You MOM
I'll always hold dear...
I'll always try to make you proud
Do my best to pass it down
These memories of you
your mom and hers
Thank You Mom
for helping me reach the clouds
Never hindering my dreams
and making me believe
that it is up to us
to live this life
the best we can
and to heck with the rest...
Others will not always be on your side
There are those that want to tear you down
You made me believe my opinion counts
and to always stand up for myself
Now I speak my mind
and I try to be kind
So many memories
I can't write them all down...
