my one time in panaman didnt allow for much partying

Well... I was there for four-and-a-half months (on a job) and the time I was able to make for partying was made for some REAL partying! In fact, the only time when I got myself TOTALLY poop-faced was in Panama!

Oddly enough I was on a Christian-themed bio-pic called "End of the Spear". It was about a couple of Christian missionary families who fly out to Equador to calm some psycho natives down after they'd been killing Shell Oil workers and stuff.

I took my time off... well... havin' time off.

It all started with Bill Clintoon's signing of NAFTA in 1993, which was essentially a thiny-veiled way of giving corporate business a free ride. It also interjected a loophole that allowed for the use of "tax incentives" to lure business away with.

First the Canadians started off with their tax incentives... then the Czech Republic... then it was the Aussies and New Zealanders... and finally some states in the U.S.

Oddly enough, the one state to drag its heels with its OWN tax incentive program is California, which they JUST got passed a month ago. However, the chances of Cali being competitive with the other markets is slim-to-none, as they give next to nothing up.

And here's the rub with the whole "free-trade" thing- for some reason, film crews from outside of Cali can come to cali to make film and tv projects, but -for some inane reason- we can't go other countries to film there. It's certainly the case with Canada, which has a totally hardcore anti-American thing going on.

So it's "free-trade" for you if you're a corporate head of a studio, but NOT so much if you're below-the-liner.
