Lilacs A Favorite

The lilacs bloomed
on my favorite old tree.
The bark is suffering
from its musty green crust.
I wonder how long
it will be until
the blooms no longer burst
to surprise my anticipations.
In the before years,
the meadows
were full of lush growth,
fields waiting
to be mowed and perhaps,
if they could hope,
hoping they would be
left to their own volition.
I am thankful the lilacs
have enticed
my yearnings once again,
filling my soul
with that sweet
mesmerizing hint.

excellent write! i love lilacs, so pretty, and they smell lovely.
