The link below will assist you in finding a local location to goto to unite with your brothers and sisters in prayer. If you are unable to attend, please do join us in prayer from where ever you are! May God bless us all. The National Day of Prayer for the USA This week in the United States we observe the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 7th, 2009. As Son's and Daughter's of the Most High God, we know that He does hear us when we call to Him! As it says in 2 Chronicles 7:14, "If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." Let us believe that God has the best yet in store for this nation, and for every nation in which there is a praying, seeking and believing people! The 58th Annual National Day of Prayer will take place Thursday, May 7, 2009. Millions will unite in prayer as thousands of events will take place from coast to coast! The theme for this year is "Prayer... America's Hope" and is based on the verse from Psalm 33:22 which states: "May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you." The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. The National Day of Prayer's mission is to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, mobilizing the Christian community to intercede for America and its leadership in the seven centers of power: Government, Military, Media, Business, Education, Church and Family. In accordance with Biblical truth, the National Day of Prayer Task seeks to: * Foster unity within the Christian Church * Protect America's Constitutional Freedoms to gather, worship, pray and speak freely * Publicize and preserve America's Christian heritage * Encourage and emphasize prayer, regardless of current issues and positions * Respect all people, regardless of denomination or creed * Be wise stewards of God's resources and provision * Glorify the Lord in word and deed LIVE Webcast - National Observance Washington D.C. Celebrate America's 58th annual National Day of Prayer from our nation's capitol! The National Observance will take place, Thursday, May 7th, in Washington D.C. from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and will be broadcast LIVE via webcast and through GOD TV, channel 365 on Direct TV and channel 138 on Sky Angel. The webcast will be accessible through Tangle, GOD TV and NDP. ****Click the link to find a LOCAL EVENT in your area.**** http://www.ndptf.org/custom/events/eventSearch/ "Dear Friends, Today, our nation is in desperate need of intercession. Despite our sophisticated technology and our military prowess, the crises facing our country have left our leaders perplexed and uncertain. Human answers fall short; we must look heavenward. Scripture tells us that nations rise and fall at God's command, and the hearts of rulers are in His hand. If healing is to come to our land, the Almighty's wisdom must be sought in humility, repentance and supplication. (II Chronicles 7:14) With that in mind, our 2009 theme is appropriately titled "Prayer -- America's Hope!" It's based on Psalm 33:22: "May Your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in You." Although our present troubles may appear insurmountable, we can take heart in knowing that we serve a God of mercy, compassion, and power. May the Lord richly bless all you endeavor in His Name. " --Mrs. James C. Dobson (Shirley) Chairman, NDP Task Force THE NDP PRAYER FOR OUR NATION Written by Beth Moore May 7, 2009 Father in Heaven, We lift our eyes toward Your Throne, where you reign in righteousness. Your Word assures us that when Your people cry out in sincerity and humility, You will never turn a deaf ear to us. We call upon You now, seeking Your forgiveness and favor. Look over this fevered landscape and heal us, Lord. Drop knees to the floor and raise eyes to the sky, for we know where our help comes from. Unite these States again in devotion to You, and blur every dividing line. Do not give us over to our sins. Give us, instead, over to passionate prayer that moves Your heart. "May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you." In the name of our Lord and Savior, Amen. |

minus all the hoo-pla, organization and other goop... we were already encouraged to...
1 Thessalonians 5:17 - "Pray without ceasing." So much for some mystical, magical "calling" to do it out of the blue on some scheduled day man (typically James Dobson) created.... |

You are quite right in that our prayers should never, ever stop. We are told to do just that! Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. Ephesians 6:18
Prayer and the Word of God are the most powerful things that we, the children of God, posess. The Word is our sword, and the only offence that we have against the evils of this world. And prayer itself can accomplish anything-it can even move mountains just as we are told in Matthew 21:22 "You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.” The bible tells us many things about prayer. It tells us how we should pray, how frequently we should pray, and even what types of things we should pray for. Not only are we told to pray alone at times, but we are also told to come together to pray as 2 or more when we have a common goal/concept we need achieved. “I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. For where two or three or more gather together as my followers, I am there among them.” Matthew 18:19-20 Therefore, I fear you are missing the point of this exercise. There is no 'mystical, magical calling out of the blue' to pray. Rather, the organization of believers on a large scale to pray for a concept that is important to all of us (the betterment, protection, and hope of our nation and to pray for our leaders) is a biblically sound concept. And without scheduling a nationally recognized day for which to pray, how else would you get all of the believers to speak at once and in one voice on any given topic? All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it. 1 Corinthians 12:27 Thank you to all who joined in prayer yesterday. May we all continue to grow in the love of the Lord. God bless you and keep you. Amen. |
