I recently got tired of the calls myself, I got tired of running from something I caused on myself. It was so bad, I have the phone numbers Chase uses to make the calls, or atleast I reconized them when the caller ID came up. I honestly don't blame them for calling when they do, it might be on inconvienence to you, but what about the inconvienence to them for non-payment. I'm glad I talked to them and made up a payment plan. I am on the way to recovering my credit, and fixing my life financially. They are willing to work with you if you are willing to talk to them. I told the lady my story, and I appologized to her, she worked me out a great deal, and even gave me her extention number for future reference with her if something should come up. I got my interest rate lowered by 5% and she took all fees and interest off my account for the last 6 months, noticably dropping my balance.
It feels good to be able to do this. I don't have the stress the phone calls, or wonder when it's going to catch up to me. I sure would rather do it this way, then wait until its too late and my wages are garnished for it, then I have no control over the situation. I may be super poor now, but atleast I feel good about myself. |

Chase just called for my roommate at 8;15 on a Sunday morning. I told them they just woke the whole house up. Even on a Sunday they have to do this. Does anyone know how to stop this harassment? Update-He moved out. It is nice and quiet now> |

yeah, but if you can afford a lawyer, he will probably tell you it is harassment. therefore he can write a notice to Chase to not contact that number because it doesn't just belong to your roommate.

I have a credit card that I have had for years. Always pay on time. I recieved a new bill and my interest was raised from 10% to 17%, I called and asked why. They said because the economy is bad. And how is this my fault? Well I was taught to always pay the balance every month and if you do it is technically interest free. However that is hard to do especially in today's economy. I used to have such bad credit I was once refused a checking account in a credit union with over fifteen thousand dollars in my hand to open the account (thanks to chex systems). There was another posting on here that talked about a bank threatening to make it so a user could not open an account elsewhere. I have dealt with that situation in the past and they are referring to a service they have called chex systems. Those people at Chex Systems are probably one of the lowest forms of human life. Even after you pay the amount due plus additional fees to your bank it is still up to the bank to contact chex systems to get the record updated. Many banks will not do that or they will update it but never remove it from your credit. Therefore it stays on your credit report for like 7 years. Chex systems hold it in their system for five years from the date of you paying it off entirely. There are banks and credit unions that will not open accounts for you unless you are not listed in chex systems. I would suggest to anyone on here that is in debt to research the laws of the state you live in when the debt is incurred as different states have different statute of limitations on debt. Once that limit is met debt collectors can no longer obtain a judgment for the money owed. Basically what that means is you still owe the money but without a judgment it must be permanently dropped from your credit report after the statute of limitations runs out on it. It also means that the only recourse a debt collector has to try to collect money from you is to harass you. Most times people sell the debt to collection agencies who then harass people to recover payment. |
