Or -in the case of Chuck Liddell- they'll fall asleep in the middle of the match! Oh, the wonders of MMA!

Why, Chuck Liddell, of course! He started dozing off in the middle of an interview on some sports show a couple of years ago. He was babbling on about something about MMA or UFC when his head started tilting to one side and his eyes started to get heavy. Within seconds, he was out like a light... snoring through the whole interview.

Yeah. It ranks up there with the Yngwie J. Malmsteen airplane rant of a couple of years ago. Totally hilarious stuff.

Yes, I love boxing... It's practically nonexistant these days b/c we don't have anyone good... Well, heavyweight I mean.. So I've learned to watch the lower weights... And some UFC/MMA if I must....

Yeah. It seems that all the heavy-weight boxing went the way of the do-do after Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson. Of course, there's also the blockheads like Francois Botha and that one Russian boxer who keeps making a point to punch his opponents in the nuts (can't remember the name of the dude), but those dudes are more sideshow monkeys than anything else.

most of them are.. I think the fight between holyfield and lewis was just for holyfield to hand lewis the title.. Tyson would have been great for a long time if it weren't for his skanky ex Robin Givens and well of course the losing of his damn mind...

Yeah. Pro boxing is kind of like pro-wrestling in that it's kind of staged... you'll have the flavor-of-the-month boxer who will ride the crest of stardom until the time comes when the crown has to be handed over to the young buck, after which the cycle starts again.
And yeah- what happened to Mike Tyson was pretty messed up. Then again, his case isn't all that unique, either- I happened to meet ex-boxer Roberto Duran while in Panama on that movie I was on five years ago, and he essentially squandered whatever money he made from his boxing career. It was pretty sad too, as he was a pretty nice fella. |

I think boxingn can be setup but mostly it's not... You can tell when they can fight and when they can't... De la Hoya lost his ability, some don't like him but he was a very skilled fighter.. He only took the Pacquiao fight b/c he was paid like $40mil from what I heard and they begged him b/c no one really watches it anymore and he's a crowd drawer... So it looks like he did it and handed the reins to Pacquiao...
Foreman was a great fighter a bit slow but when he hit you and he ALWAYS did.. Most went down like a ton of bricks... Tyson had so much going for him to stay on top it's too bad he's such an idiot.. He wasn't a fighter though, he was a brawler pure and simple but still gave a damn good 1 min and 42 seconds of a fight... I wanna heavyweight dammit!!! |
