So chat it up, I want to know what you all think about this topic?
Should our government be 'purchasing' their way into one of the biggest businesses in this country - and share it with Canada, and only to mingle it with the Italian Fiat company?????

Basically it allows Chrysler to LEGALLY break their contracts with UAW so they can reorganize and force themselves and the Unions to what Obama (Cough Cough) envisions as revitalizing the auto industry domestically.

There was no other legal recourse other than a hostile takeover OR they were bought out by a new owner who had no agreement with UAW (which can be argued for because the union's agreement was with the current owners. New owners are not compelled to honor any previous agreements).

All the unions are going to do is screw it up for everybody because the bottom line is they will be loosing a LOT of money now.

Oh well for them. They are the kind of idiots who instead of trying to patch the holes in a leaking boat would rather let it leak until it sinks.

I think putting a hemi in the right car would be a good idea.
Not one that looks like a Bently and calling it a Charger.

I don't care much for Chrysler.. Though it would be a shame to see them go down. America needs the american car companies.

Just one more thing our government wants control over. They have control over the banks, the insurance industry, the morgage industry, and now they are taking over the car industry.I'm sure this is all part of Obamas master plan of having a dictatorship for a government.

What we really should be talking about is where 10-15 billion dollars went for this company?

It's sad that the Federal Bank of America isn't even a "Federal" bank. It's a privately owned entity of a Bilderberg member.

That's what I was getting at. But they were trying to stick their most fuel inefficient engine in everything they could get it to fit. Not a smooth move from a car sales approach.

It may not be over yet

"creditors should take matters into their own hands and immediately file an involuntary petition against Chrysler and force the company into bankruptcy court. In one stroke they could take Obama out of the game and put the whole tangled mess in the hands of a bankruptcy judge, where it belongs."

I will say.. Ford is deffinately doing the best out of all of them. The new Fusion Hybrids are over 40mpg. The gas Focus' are around 36mpg. The Escape Hybrids are pretty high mpg wise.. The i4 Rangers get decent mileage.

And a plus, all of the CEOs took major pay and bonus cuts. Maybe the other companies should match them.. Don't they have enough money?

If they merge with Fiat and make some sort of deal with the govt. (which they shouldn't), you may be making payments out to the Fiat Motor Co. If they go under, the govt. will probably buy it out and you'll pay them MORE money. What a freakin' suprise.

IMHO, they should let all of these companies fail. AIG, Chrysler, CitiGroup.. All of them. Make way for new companies because that's what happens.

BTW, if they go under, I hope you don't have the lifetime powertrain warrenty, because It's down the toilet, lol.

Fiat is that close to bankruptcy. This merger is a way to save Fiat just as much as Chrysler
