has anyone ever had it? what does it taste like? where can u find it? The walleye is often considered to have the best tasting flesh of any freshwater fish, and, consequently, is fished recreationally and commercially. Because of its nocturnal feeding habits, it is most easily caught at night using live minnows or lures that mimic small fish. Most commercial fisheries for walleye are situated in the Canadian waters of the Great Lakes, but there are other locations as well. |

Minnesota doesn't have the corner on walleye.
I live on a smaller private lake in Michigan and we have walleye, as do most of the other lakes in the vicinity. It is a smooth, mild tasting fish. I love it. It's available at most of our grocery stores.

I think walleye is all over North America. I grew up nest to Pymatuning Late on the PA/OH line, and I now live 3 miles from Lake Sakakawea in ND, and both are known for great walleye fishing. As far as finding it without fishing for it yourself, try asking at your local fish market or the meat/seafood department at your local supermarket. They should be able to get it for you. Makes an awesome fish-fry, BTW.

Sorry Startraveler, they are not only in MN, we have lots of lakes here in Wisconsin that have Walleye. They're kind of tricky to catch, but boy are they ever good. YUM!
