What about if you don't find anyone who'd appreciate your writing? does this mean you shouldn't be writing at all?

Creative expression is important. You get better by doing it.

Most places have a group that gets together to share idea, to critique, to do readings ... surround yourself with like-minded people.

I'm actually thinking of starting kind if reading group in my area. However, I'm not sure how people would react to that and how to attract like minded people. Do you write?

Yes I do some writing as well. Join us in this forum - you will find a lot of support among the writers here.

Starting a reading group is a wonderful thing! I go to a little gallery here once in awhile for their jam night - it is a wonderful eclectic mix of artists - some poets, some visual artists, some musicians ... they just get together to support one another and share our varied expressions. It is a cool evening of music, art and poetry ...

Those are great because creativity is creativity regardless of the medium and just being in that atmosphere can be inspiring.

Then, particularly with writing, it is nice to get together with other writers who speak the 'language' and can offer other perspectives and critiques of work. I have always learned so much more by offering critiques as I have to think about the work in a really objective way.

Just post a notice with the intention of gathering a group of writers that can work well together and who can bring out the best in one another... then trust that the exact people you need to be there will just show up.

The beauty is not always in the content but, if you worry about that you may just alter what you are trying to say.

Write for you and from your soul; the audience will find you.

my nephew was born in hawaii with his brother. my sister lived there for 5yrs and they moved back here about 21yrs ago..

my nephew jahsun moved back there number of yrs ago
and he started to preform not only a band but also got into with a group where they did maui slam poetry..
