Sorry Abra...didn't mean to leave ya hangin....do you know anything
about modems? You see Jon, when someone smart AND driven (like you and Abra), I'm sure you can dabble in all sorts of things, be success at many and have fun with the rest. I'm starting to find out that the world doesn't like to pay "generalists" who just want to play all the time. Oh well, I guess it's ok to be "pretty good" at a lot of things. |

Yeah, suddenly it's a priority for some reason...

Which? Everything...or to specialize?

Learning is suddenly important.
I was slacking off. ...It's how I roll. |

More to the point, everything.

In "as I say, not as I do fashion" I have the audacity to utter
"specialize, it pays better". |
Yeah, right now, I'm trying to decide between the Dimebag Darryl style
or the Tiny Tim style... |
Psst, yeah, I know Tiny Tim specialized in the Uke...

I suppose that all depends on your history of groin injuries.

Oooh, true. Wonder what happened to Ozzy...

“I'm sure you can dabble in all sorts of things, be success at many and have fun with the rest.” I’ve never been very musical. I definitely would never think of myself as a ‘musician’. My musical dabblings have always been a mere pastime on the side, and never taken seriously. I can’t really claim to ‘play’ any instrument, it’s more like I ‘play around’ with them. I was fortunate to have learned how to read music some years ago. Although, like I say, I don’t actually read it ‘fluently’, it’s more like I ‘decipher’ it as I go along. In others, I can learn a piece from sheet music, but I can’t just play it off from the sheet music. If I were going to get together with someone to play I’d like to know ahead of time what we are going to be playing so that I can practice up before we get together. That’s how BAD I am! So when I say that I ‘play’ all these instruments, I really just mean that I fool around with them and I know a couple of rudimentary pieces on each one. I don’t actually ‘play’ them in the normal sense that a musician would use that term. (ha ha) But I do feel that if I got together with a small group of amateur musicians and played with them over the course of a few months I could probably become fairly proficient at a hand full of pieces. If you asked me which instrument I play the ‘best’, I’d have to say that I’m equally bad on all of them. I guess it would have the be the guitar, then the harmonica, then the piano, and if your willing wear ear plugs I don’t sound too bad on the fiddle. If I picked up a banjo today it would be like starting all over again. Although, it's sometimes amazing what can eventually come back to you after so many decades. |

BEachcomber-To answer your earlier post, several members of my family
played the spoons. They were all great guitar players too. Wonder what happened to me? lol |
