Paul Orndorf - the creator of the PILE DRIVER The Bushwackers - loved the suspenders and dance. What was the Iron Skiek's tag team partner's name??? For the record, Bill Longson was the first wrestler known to have used the piledriver, way back in the 1930s. Iron Sheik's WWF tag championship partner in 1985-87 was Nikolai Volkoff. |

Well then I guess I stand corrected about the pile driver, starange maybe he adpted it some way? They seemed to make a big deal of it when I was in prime time. But thanks. Oy ha Nikolai Volkoff, not that I really like those guys but it's been so long since I heard of them.

A number of wrestlers used the piledriver in between Longson and Orndorff. The most notable was Jerry Lawler. Actually one of the biggest old-school trends was how the piledriver was illegal in Memphis rings because of its effects. Lol, in 1982, Lawler even used his piledriver on Andy Kaufman, and Kaufman sold it like he was dead, which was how much respect that man had for wrestling.
At about the same time Orndorff adopted the piledriver in the WWF, Dynamite Kid was using a really brutal version in Japan that a lot of wrestlers were nervous about taking. And then of course, there was the tombstone variation of the piledriver, which was used by Harley Race and Tiger Mask many years before The Undertaker popularized it. WWE doesn't acknowledge that either. They've never been very big on acknowledging history as far as other promotions, although they've relaxed that stance a bit in recent years. |

Lol, I consider the research of wrestling history to be my primary hobby/pastime. I've been dedicated to its study for thirteen years. |

OK. How about some of the great managers. My favorite was

I always found Bobby Heenan to be one of the most entertaining.
A few Heenan anachronisms: When questioned on whether he was racially biased, "I don't discriminate; I hate everyone equally." Regarding a woman's emotional reaction to Randy Savage and Elizabeth getting back together at WrestleMania VII: "Maybe her shoes are on too tight." Responding to a suggestion by Gorilla Monsoon that he see his "occulist": "Why? There's nothing wrong with my feet." Regarding fan enthusiasm, "I can't hear you, it's too loud! You're gonna have to ask some of them to leave!" |

Who remembers Mr. Perfect?
I liked how they showed him shoot a basketball the first time and make it. Then they show other things and he would do it so perfect for the first time. I think he even spit out his gum but managed to swat it with his hands away at the same time. I know, I know disgusting. Why do I remember this wrestler so well? Anyway Mr. Perfect had a perfect score in wrestling until some of the bigger wrestlers ensured to stop it short. |

Most of the guys from the '80s were in pretty bad shape. Everyone still believes that Snuka killed his g/f in a rhoid rage. Who know who was great- Chris Colt, one of the first openly gay wrestlers from the Gulf Coast area. Anyone remember him?

As perfect as he claimed to be, he never won the WWF World championship, nor did he have a long term main event feud. However, I always respected his wrestling ability and his ability to deliver good matches. He was a good wrestler to watch. It's a shame he had to die so young of a crack overdose. I haven't had the chance to see him wrestle yet, but they say his son, Joe Hennig, has the goods. |
