I was curious about Sarasota. I was told there were no jobs down there.

The only thing that I know about is that there's no work in the construction field.

I just moved out of Florida 3 months ago- I was in Vero Beach--east coast about an hour and a half south of Orlando- No Jobs!!! if you are going to look for work- hit the cities- Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Tampa, Orlando, West Palm, Ft Lauderdale, Miami, Fort Myers- the pay is lower than up north and the cost if living is really high now!!!

Hurricane season starts June 1st and lasts until November 30th- Don't get me wrong it has good points- just can't think of any at the moment!! i was there 18 years too long!!! I hate the heat, the bugs and the rain!! but it is really pretty!! and if you like the water its stellar!!! just really check it out thoroughly before you commit yourself!!

I lived in the Sarasota/Bradenton area for 4 years while in school there...I couldnt wait to move back the the Clearwater area (Pinellas County, west of Tampa Bay on the Gulf Beaches) where I was born. I love this area & wouldnt live anywhere else :) I have visited everywhere from Key West to Miami (including south beach)/Ft. Lauderdale all the way up to Amelia Island/Jacksonville...Orlando, Ocala, Crystal River/Inverness...& on the Gulf Coast from Ft. Meyers/Venice up. The only part I have not been to is the far north panhandle area around Pensacola/Ft. Walton Beach...But I prefer the Clearwater area over anyplace in Floida I have been.

Moving to Florida and need sugestions for nice towns or areas. What is the best North, South, East or West?

you've gotta come out to panama city beach and go to the clubs out here. some really good clubs: la vela, spinnakers, and oxygen! check 'em out! tallahassee is ok, but gets boring kind of fast if you aren't a student.

The Tampa area is very nice... you are close to a lot of business, attractions, downtown life, the Gulf is 20 mins or less away, and its easy to get from here to there-- say Orlando/Daytona/StPete/Sarsota and all that jazz..

waving Hello by the way and welcome!

I'm in Jacksonville and have been for 10 years. Its a good family town. If you're single check out Tampa. Very nice. West Palm Beach and its surrounding areas are great too. Not much going on work wise in Jacksonville right now. Jacksonville is not a good singles town. Tampa seems much better. If you like big towns try Orlando. Stay away from Miami unless you want to feel like you haven't left the big city. Good luck.

Oh I don't know. I'm planning on getting out of South Florida as soon as possible. Maybe North is better, but I don't know yet.

Jobs in sarasota county. Depending on what you do...there are some. Manufacturing is out. Of a floor type position anyway. Medical is always good as are any manager type positions (provided you can handle the pay cut) LOL

I'm a realtor in Fort Myers FL if you are interested in finding a rental or a purchase here. I'm originally from Chicago, like you, a big city. Ft Myers is more small town but wonderful beaches and fishing. Lots of Harley riders here and lots of good clubs and singles groups. Job market isn't the best but there are jobs and it's getting better.

HA!
I read every single one of these posts... and NO ONE mentioned Gainesville.

There is a reason - well two actually.

It's land-lock. Almost exactly halfway between both coasts. At least an hour to water, east or west.

But... the BIG reason... 45,000 COLLEGE KIDS!

*laughs hysterically*

Good luck sir!
