Communicating Faith
We are communicators, right? I mean look at all the posts and follow-up comments in all the different categories just here on Mingle2 alone. People are out there seeking to find something meaningful to talk about. So what about those of us that follow Jesus? What is it that we like to talk about? What are we communicating? The bible says that "out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks". Hopefully what we are communicating is our faith. Paul, one of my own personal heroes, gave us much advice in his writings, would you agree? In the book of Philemon he gave a piece of advice on how to effectively communicate faith. It was by remaining in constant awareness of our sinful, fallen state, right? Wrong. What Paul said was that for the communication of faith to have the greatest effect, we have to acknowledge every good thing which is in us in Christ Jesus. That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. Philemon 1:6 It would be incorrect to say that we can acknowledge something that may eventually occur, but hasn't yet. We can only acknowledge, or take recognition of, that which has already happened. Praise God that I am no longer just an old sinner saved by grace. I was an old sinner, but I got saved by grace and now I have become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. My old wretched human nature was removed by and replaced with the Spirit of the Lord and along with that came the very righteousness of Jesus himself. That's almost too good to be true, but it's the Gospel. The same goes for you O, born-again one. You are no longer just a worm, You are a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a chosen and peculiar people. You are more than a conqueror. Children, and friends of the most high God. Recognize that. Acknowledge that. Focus on that. In this way that ever-so-needed communication of your faith will have an even greater impact. In you is where the Spirit of God dwells! Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21 In you, the Christ in you, is the hope of all glory! To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Colossians 1:27 Amen |

Amen Michael!
I am so thankful for all the knowledge, revelation, and advice that Paul shared with us! I thought of this verse while reading your post: But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. 1 Corinthians 2:14 and that as we are communicating our faith with one another: Then those that feared the LORD talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the LORD and honored his name. Malachi 3:16 Isn't that an awesome thought!?! Praise God! Great post, thanks for sharing. |
