On page 21 and 22 it is established not only certification of “security professionals” in the computer field but mandatory licensing for anyone performing compute security services not only to the government but also to any “critical infrastructure system or network.” This part of the bill, is nothing new, historically speaking. As it had happened over and over again, when a certain profession becomes to great in number of it's craftsmen, their earnings fall, in accordance with free market economic laws, to provide progressively cheaper and cheaper services to their customers. The profession typically with attempt to force their services on everyone else, by applying for a government issued licenses, based on any kind of invented fear of consequences of their professional action remaining unlicensed. Once they receive the licensing regulations, they can reduce their numbers by force of government, so that they then can raise their prices, and remove the benefits that free markets have delivered to their customers. For examples, see doctors, lawyers, brewers, drivers, etc. |

my dad died because he believed in the country and the constitution....to throw the constitution away is a slap in the face to him IMO it is a slape in the face of almost everyone rose no argument from me there but i have been informing people for a long time and frankly most are so self centered if it does not effect them they do not care kinda like getting a dui for sleeping in your car on private proberty the d stands for driving not sleeping it is a persicution of those that use alcohol and they exploit the tragedies caused by those that drink and drive that it causes a callousness to the violation of the rights of those that drink that is only one example (i will let someone else say the same about drugs) |

On the news! In a Movie once too. There are many possible and real threats to our National Security concerns from cyber terrorism.. Yes, there are real threats to our National Security with cyber terrorism. There's no doubt about it. I remember something about them trying to make the private military sites more secure. But...I don't think it's there yet. |

Nuclear Power Plants are operated by computers.
Electrical Grids, High Tech spy-satellite monitoring sites, even the GPS Guidance systems on fighters, etc... The more technologically dependent we become the worse the threat. Cyber terrorism is a real threat to our National Security. |

What's a cyber emergency? I would speculate that it could be anything from some talented hacker trying to firesale the Government or China doing their thing. I would say it's whatever the Puppetmasters decide it's going to be. They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither safety nor liberty. -Benjamin Franklin |

You can give up all your liberties and live in a prison. You would be perfectly safe from domestic violence and very safe from any outside threat. The question is, how much freedom are you willing to sacrifice in order to achieve safety? Are soldiers the only ones willing to die for freedom? "Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it." -Thomas Paine I know about the taliban.... I would rather have to shoot one than have someone take my guns away. I would rather face the worst viruses the best hackers could muster than give up my rights. |

LOL, and the "Taliban" is the one capable hacking computers? Amazing how much are these Afghan moutain goat herders are capable of. I mean, USA with the advanced technology and all, and here comes a couple of shepards from the mountain and causing so much trouble to the "entire civilization" that we must bomb the crap out of everything, invade entire countries, take off our shoes at the airports , go through eye-recognition checkpoints, and now they are threatening to bring down the Internet. Hey, i want to hire these guys..they are just geniuses! |

Hey, i want to hire these guys..they are just geniuses! Normally it is easy to think that. And i must agree for the most part you are right. What they do have is the funds to hire a hacker. Never underestimate a goat herder with a plan. They can be smarter than you think... But i don't see that as their priority. They only hate us cuz they are sick of the U.S. getting involved with everyone else business. What i do see, however, is China getting their claws into our systems. But this is for their information purposes. They already have an insane amount of control over the U.S., but we are still useful to them. The people that need to worry are the Pentagon and other U.S. government networks. They can institute their own form of internet protection without having it affect you and i. In fact, they regularly practice it in their networks. Do you realize someone tries to hack the Pentagons network over a million times a day? So this is old news. I still stand behind Benjamin Franklin... |
