River -- Seriously, if I was looking for someone, that's where I would
start. I see people thumbing through Nietzsche or Updike or Asimov or even a psychology book all the time. You can tell if it's a real interest by the way they look through the book. And if it is, and you know something about it....? I've found that people are receptive to suggestions regarding similar books, similar authors, similar topics. And I think there's a certain benefit to the idea of being in a bookstore, and knowing a little bit about books, too. I mean, if you can talk to aomeone about Nietzsche's theory of the Eternal Recurrence, for example, most people will assume you're not a total idiot, at the very least! And I think getting the "foot on the door" is so important when meeting someone.... |

lexfontayne: What came to mind as soon as I hit send was, I am usually
browsing in the bookstore and carrying about 1200 pounds of books, DVDs, and CDs. A guy could ask a girl if she needs a hand! |

Karen -- That's a good way to describe it! He threw a lot of other
stuff in there, though, that doesn't seem as likely now, what with advances in science and everything. Still, it was a pretty deep concept for a guy writing in the 1880s. |

Lex, It would take its own topic board to discuss him, But I have often
wondered how the people of him time thought about him and his ideas and what we are missing by not understanding people now? |

Hey 1m4u: If you want to pick up a guy at Wal-Mart, go to the meat
section. They are swarming! Lol. I did try to pick up a guy at Wal-Mart; well, break the ice. He was looking at a food collander like it had just landed from outer space. This was at a brand new Wal-Mart supercenter (I live near Washington, MO, which had the 1st supercenter in the US). This place is huge. They ought to let you drive your car up and down the ailes. Or put in a motel so you can rest up between the pharmacy side and grocery side. I said to him, "You look confused." He said, "This is a confusing store, " took his collander and walked away. Well, I tried. |

I say just be yourself and wear whatever color you want! I do have to
say though that another potential place to meet people is in a coffee shop or book store like Borders. They sometimes have musical guests in the cafe part of the book store. |
