Topic: advice for finding a good longterm relationship | |
---|---|
im a guy that has a hard time making friends, never really got the chance too because i lived in the middle of no where, so people my age really were not around. i am very down to earth everyone who knows me has told me that seem more mature than my age (18) and i would agree, butsee my problem is that i do not really know where to start to look for a girl that is like me, and is wanting a long term relationship. and about a year ago i broke up with my ex because i found out she had been cheating on me after i finished high school, so now its like i have a fear of being cheated on again, well i should shut up now so i hope some one has some advice for me that will be helpful thanks

Brandon,
I'm not sure if you are in school or not but once you find a girl you are interested in, just be yourself. No one really knows if they are looking for long term until they find the one they want it with. I know you are afraid of being cheated on but if you live your life in fear you will never achieve what you want. In a relationship or anything else for that matter. If you aren't in school, start doing things you enjoy and you will meet people your own age with whom you share common interests. Don't rush things and you will be fine. |

Time for some tough love. Grow a pair and do what's best for you to be a productive citizen. The one for you will come along.

I can relate to your difficulty in making new friends living in the boondocks as I do. It is very hard. There should be some places near you I would think where you could go without the pressure of feeling out of place or awkward. I have found that festivals, fairs and community fund raisers are great places to meet people. Just being nice and asking a question of someone in those situations can make one feel more comfortable. You don't have to ask for a phone number right off the bat, just anything pertaining to what is happening at that moment, even if it is just to ask what time it is. (Leave your watch at home on those occasions.)
Another good way to meet people without stress is to volunteer through community organizations, schools or churches. You will meet some really nice people and make a difference in your community all in one shot. Just reach out to people socially with a witty remark and a nice smile and you will be surprised what can happen. Good luck to you. |

The chances that you will be cheated on again are high. It's also high for women to be cheated on as well. It's not a girl thing or a guy thing. It all comes down to the people we choose. I made many mistakes with the men I have chosen. Stay kewl, take your time, be happy within yourself and eventually the right one will knock you off your feet. A lot of people out there with no morals and standards. Stay true to you and it will all work out.

And, that someone who cheats is selfish and narcissistic. They don't cheat because of you -- but because of their own issues.
As already been said here -- be yourself, and don't go into a relationship with expectations. Honestly, at your age, an LTR is not a good idea. You need to know who the heck YOU are before you get into an LTR; otherwise, you will lose your identitiy (what little identity you have). How can you love someone or be loved when you haven't discovered you yet? Good luck. |

If you follow my advice from my previous post you won't have to look for a girlfriend. A girlfriend will find you.

If you follow my advice from my previous post you won't have to look for a girlfriend. A girlfriend will find you. Are you on crack or what? Don't be blowin his head up with bull****. There are never any guarentee's and there are alot of users and cheaters out there. The best thing you can do is be honest. Not blow smoke up his butt. Glad you have a cinderella story but, lets get back to reality and the real world |
