i have a question...some thought someone going to a strip club was wrong because the money could be used for their families...how is it really any different?

well as much as i do not want to say this

you did not qualify where the money came from

and if they worked and earned it then it was not contributed to by taxes

but like i said every govt worker is paid by taxes so maybe it should be expanded to no govt worker can win lottery money (after all it is tax dollars they are spending

i thought they had laws for that already. maybe i'm mistaken but i thought there are restrictions already in place

It is no different, still wrong, and it does not matter where the money came from. Social programs are designed to supplement, not provide.

and a government worker receiving an earned paycheck is different than free money.

but they work for the governing body that controls the lottery thus they should not be permitted to win

if you work for the titans and bet on football it can cost you your job why should the lottery be any different

Feds don't run the state lotteries. If you work for the state lottery commission, I do not believe you are allowed to win. However, if you work in another segment for the state, what is the harm? Either way, this has nothing to do with the topic at hand. We are discussing self responsibility, not conflicts of interest.

discussion of just about anything related to law is intrusive - like I said, any decision removes liberties from someone, somewhere. The fact I have to pay for these social programs involves intrusive law. Conflicts of interest have nothing to do with being responsible with your money.
