I was at Jerry's not too long ago. So many people! My daughter's friend is dating someone from Big Fat Fun. My first time there - it was fun! One of the reasons I liked it there is that there weren't all 20 somethings there. Big age range. I even ran in to a group from high school...LOL
We went last weekend and it was packed. There was no place to sit so we ended up leaving and going somewhere else. So is Fridays the night to go? Hope you had a great time. Let me know how the band was. |

Is Jerrys for listening to bands/music or do they have a dance floor as well. I'm looking for a place to go that has a crowd diverse in age.

Band was Second Nature, a personal favorite of mine. Had a good time. It was less crowded than usual and I managed to get a good seat in the back watching the band. Better to go with a group though. Lots of good dancing to be had. |

Lots of good dancing to be had. I will have to check out Second Nature some time. I just browsed the internet and checked out a few videos that they had posted on their myspace page. Glad you had a good time. So just watching the band ... did you get out and dance some, too? This going out and about is new to me. My daughter and her group of friends have been letting me tag along. It was nice to actually go somewhere that had more than 20 somethings there. Last week we ended up at Soggy Bottom. Great for kareoke. Not so great if you are wanting to dance. Younger crowd there. Have you ever checked out Rowdy Beaver on a Friday or Saturday? |

Have you ever checked out Rowdy Beaver on a Friday or Saturday? Haven't been to Rowdy Beaver. Only been to a handful of others once or twice. Jerry's is nearby so I usually end up there if I want to listen to live music. No, I didn't dance. If I'm with people I know I'll dance, but the bar scene for meeting people/asking to women to dance really isn't my thing and you can barely hear to talk. If I go out by myself I mainly go to get out, have a beer and listen to music. I agree about the crowd. The weekend crowd is a good mix of ages. Tuesday and Thursday seems to be much younger (2-4-1's) and there's a cover on those days so I usually avoid it as a place to just grab a beer. If I'm going to just have a beer with friends (or occasionaly by myself) I'll usually go to Old Chicago. |

Thanks for the info. I actually called my sister, who resides in Wichita, to ask her about Jerrys and she said there is often an older crowd. Well if you can call 43 old, personally I do not. She works with a guy that is in one of the bands that play there. I can't recall specifically the name...10 something? Now that is showing my age. I was going to start taking Gingko to improve my memory...but I keep forgetting to take it.
Any way, I will attempt to check it out soon. |

Yes, 10 Day Wish plays regularly at Jerry. Turns out the singer and guitar player are part owners of Jerry's if I recall correctly. They are one of the groups I really enjoy.

I haven't been to Rowdy Beaver either. I didn't realize it was more than a restaurant until checking the site of Big Fat Fun. Jerry's is closer for me, too, as far as the live music goes. No, I didn't dance. If I'm with people I know I'll dance, but the bar scene for meeting people/asking to women to dance really isn't my thing and you can barely hear to talk. If I go out by myself I mainly go to get out, have a beer and listen to music. I agree about the bar scene there isn't for meeting people/conversation. It is very loud there. As far as the dancing goes, it seems more acceptable for a woman to get out and dance by herself or with a group of other women whether she comes by herself or with a group. If I'm going to just have a beer with friends (or occasionaly by myself) I'll usually go to Old Chicago.
I haven't ventured out by myself yet. Did I say yet? Geesh, not sure that is even in the cards for me. If I did, I would be the one with the deer in the headlights look! Right now, my daughter and her friends have taken me in under their wing to show me how to get out and about. I have found that I really enjoy the live music and dancing. I don't even have to be dancing, just watching others have fun is great. |

I have made the observation about women dancing by themselves as well. Though I have been out to a club only two times in the last 20 years ,yes seriously. Back in the day a lady waited to be asked, now, not so much. I'm good with that.

Jerry's shows them being there this weekend. Perhaps they've changed it... they do that quite a bit. Just checked the 10 Day Wish site and they also say this weekend. You are right!!!!! I misread the banner. It looks like the Grand Slam was the event that was rescheduled to the 24th. I definitely am needing more sleep! |

Well sounds like this Friday is the night. I have dinner plans early. I'd love for that to run really long ;), but realistically I'll probably be out there around 9-9:30
