I will admit I have fanny packs a couple of them when I hike they are great to hold water, keys and what ever else.. Sorry they are so unacceptable.. 
For hiking they are GREAT!! Hiking is not public!  
I also use them for runs and bike rides. I will not venture out on trails without my cellie, etc. Besides, who worries about fashion during exercise? No one, I hope! You are still cool, my dear!

It's ok if hire in disney world too. ESP of you have 3 kids hanging off you and a backpack full of diapers and cheerios and water bottles.
