Topic: How serious is Mingle???

I am new to this site and would like to do some type of mini-rant. In the past few weeks... I've encountered a few people who exchange emails with me and happen to tell the same story:

"I am currently in ****** place and I have no money. Although I dont know you, I would love to visit you but please send money."

I think Ive had about 4 conversations with similar stories... Some girl who is at the wrong place for the wrong reasons and is asking for money to buy a ticket or something like that.

Is it me or is that a major SCAMMM??? and I would like to know if someone is actually falling for those scams.

I had never done the whole online thing, and now that I did it, I am fairly dissapointed.

I'd love to hear responses please.

Just my own opinion, but anybody who asks you for money is probably a scammer. I haven't run into that here myself, but I've talked to a few people who have, and the best thing to do is REPORT them.

As a forum moderator who has run across a few Russian scammers in my own Mutual Matches, I can tell you that Admin takes the scamming issue very seriously and will remove them from the site very quickly.

First of all, I am so sorry that you have had these experiences. Not everyone here is like that. Secondly, if you are being asked by these women for money, all you have to do is let a moderator know. I would say that I have never heard of anything like that, until today (before your post).

Don't give up, there are alot of wonderful people here on Mingle. Just play it safe. flowers

I have not encountered any type of this e-mail while I have been on this website.

But when I was on match.com, I used to get hit with that all the time. Those type of people are scammers. Don`t fall for that or the one about a business proposition for you to be a "middle man" about checks to be deposited in your bank account.

If your gut feeling tells you no on something listen to it.

Most of the people that I have had the pleasure of hanging out with here on mingle are pretty kewl. We all usually tease the chitt outta each other. You will see that as you progress in your time spent on here. Enjoy yourself, and make some new friends.

Now on the joking side.I gotta mess with Holly:wink: laugh bigsmile

I got a personal message from a guy who was very complimentary and told me that we had a lot in common and how honest and trustworthy he was, and all kinds of generic crap that could have been mailed out to hundreds of women.

He had obviously not even read my profile. laugh

Have you seem my profile? It says that I am not looking for a date or a mate and that I will make their life a living hell and that if they are looking for death do us part to keep clicking on down the line I'm not interested. Then I have a picture of myself screaming wearing curlers. (That's how I look when I am married.)laugh laugh

Report them to the Admin ASAP. No site is safe from scammers. But when they know they will be quickly IDed it cuts down on them.
