Funny you posted this bc my friend and I were talking about something like this at work yesterday. I think it stemmed from me telling her about my reply to another discussion here on Mingle2 actually lol. I was telling her about a post I made in response to "Is chivalry dead?" or something like that. And in a way, your discussion is a great follow up to that.

First look at when "Chivalry" was stronger/more popular in our society...it was back before the media (tv movies cable magazines tv companies video games and etc etc) took over. She and I were standing outside and this lady walked by wearing a shirt with "words" on it. And I goes to her, "I think there should be some unknown law that women can't wear shirts with words on them" -- She goes, "Why?" So, I said, "Because that just gives us men one more reason NOT to look at your eyes when we are talking to you, its hard enough already" -- So anyways, then we started talking about the differences between today and "back then." Like look at your TV shows. I was telling her I remember watching "Winnie" on The Wonder Years and fantasizing, to whatever extent I did at that time, about her and THAT being "naughty."

If I was a "young" male and I walked up to my "buddies" and told them I was thinking about "Winnie" and then went on to explain what I was thinking about they would laugh! Because now a days we have HANNAH MONTANA! Hannah Montana is on THE DISNEY CHANNEL. So, she goes on to mention Britney Spears..and I say, yeah well when I was younger we had Madonna, but it was different...I KNEW Madonna was "naughty/bad/doing things that were grownup"...today Britney Spears is marketed by companies to little teenage girls!! I don't think Madonna had a line of perfume or clothes for little girls when I was growing up! And THEN! we talked about SPONGEBOB...I know we all love Spongebob..I do, you do, we all do. It is funny. But there is some things on that cartoon that are waaaaaaaaaaaaay out of line sometimes. I used to watch the Smurfs, Heman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, ALF....I am pretty sure you can look back through EVERY episode of those shows and not find ONE reference to anything above the age of TEN years old.

So anyways...not really sure if this was the best response to your "discussion," but more or less my answer to your question is no I do not and I believe the rest of the world does but does not realize they are because the BIG companies out there have planted a seed and that seed has blossomed into a gigantic tree and they're too afraid to cut it down so they just continute watering it. Where this world ends up? I don't know. Will I take part? Definitely not.

Keep on dreaming,
Billy
