do you do when you have a friend who is hurting so badly from a death of
a loved one, a break up, or other heartbreak? I know what I do but just want feedback......... |

Hey cutie!
I listen very attentively, and I am very careful choosing my words of comfort. Sometimes people just don't know what to say and end up making things worse because they speak without thinking first. |

In my experience, the main thing they need at that point is for someone
to be there and listen. Let them talk about their feelings; a good friend is always there to listen. Another thing that sometimes helps is to get them to do something that distracts them for awhile -- go someplace, have lunch, do some shopping, anything that moves the focus away from the problem. People in this state of mind are in desperate need of some balance, something to offset the overwhelming sense of loss that may otherwise crush them. But the main thing is just to be there. |

Just be there and listen, that is the best comfort you can give

Took the words right out of my fingers Lex!!!!!!!
Be there and listen......The main ingredients of compassion!!!!! |

What works for me is a case of beer and a pair of boxing gloves.
Or a trip to the mountains to clear their heads after a traumatic experience like that... LANTZ |

Yes "Lex" that too! Get them out! I'll do that for as long as needed,
especially for someone very dear to me. |
