<-----has the accent! bigsmile

Try having a handful of Dubliners in Texas for a couple of weeks getting ready for a wedding. By the time it was time for everyone to go home the Dubliners sounded like Texans and the other way around. No one could understand each other!

Anytime I need to *accent fix* I call my brother in law. bigsmile

What have you found in the way of geographical/social differences with people on how they present themselves here on M2?

Example - (this is purely an *example* of how I know *SOME* people think)
Californians are laid back
Southerners are slow
Northerners are more intense

Irish people are alcoholics.

I know a handful of them... and I know for a fact that small group are alcoholics! drinks

I know a "few" of them too, and they aren't!

Well, I slightly generalized... 3 of the 6 are. But I love them. If you can't poke fun at those you love and love you... who can you poke fun at?

I wouldnt really think that alcoholism is something to "poke fun" at... considering both my grandparents died from the disease, and my mother, ex husband, and best friend are all struggling with it right now! As far as diffences in people from different states... well, i was born in california, raised in baltimore, lived in Atlanta for 10 years, and now live in west virgina... and i have lived all over the states and found great people and crappy people in every different spot!!

Well, to be honest with you, I had a drink problem many years ago. I choose to make light of it but I'm not implying that there's anything easy about it at all.

Whoa there, sparky. We're keeping it light. Talking about representations. And I know first hand about what alcoholism does.

Ok, I guess I have to qualify every frickin' thing I post!

I'm thinking about people making generalizations about one area of the country over another, etc.

This is SUPPOSED TO BE FUN, PEOPLE! Sheesh! grumble
I hope people understand when I say this... I really don't care where someone is from.. Its when they try to "impose" their beliefs on others just because they are "intense' Laid back" "slow" not everyone's life style will fit all... so accept them but don't be like them if you want.. I just try and go with the flow. and be understanding. Having had the benefit of living every where all over the world.
