Is it strange to be super excited about finally moving into my own (rental) place at 36?

I have never lived completely on my own. I was always either at home, had a roommate, was married, or... at the moment staying with friends until I found a place that was affordable (and not scary) open up.

Since I'm "on my own" as a single person again I am super excited about starting over and it being on *my terms*. I am actually more excited about this than I was when the ex and I bought our first house. It is all on me! Which is exciting and scary as all hell mixed into one! I'm still new to the area, my job is new, the people are new... the one "stable and sane" thing is my best friend over 20 something years is here.

Not strange at all. I live alone with my son and love it! I keep thinking about doing the roommate deal, but I know I'll be really unhappy if I do. Its expensive living on my own, but I sure love this place being MINE!

No, Kimm! Not at all! I had that same feeling when I moved in to my first apartment a year ago this last Halloween...and I was 46 at the time! LOL!

I can so relate to this... When I moved to Sitka I had always been with someone. Went from my parents to husband, when he passed away had kids, then remarried. I had never lived totally alone. I was terrified and excited all at once.

I came to the point I knew I had made it when I bought my first home totally on my own picked out window treatments, put in new granite the whole works and didn't have to ask another opinion..

I am happy for you..to the point of doing the happy dance. I know when I did it in my home I was so elated.. There is something about running to the kitchen nude to grab the ice cream and take it back to bed to eat.. that is exhilerating..

The inside is a little dated... but the living room floor is GORGEOUS wood!! And the yard is so cute! I can't wait to start my garden!!

A (male) friend asked me what I'm most excited about with living by myself. I said walking around the house with no clothes on. No he's offered to come mow the lawn at any time... as long as it is when I'm in the *nude mood*. Poor man has obviously never seen me nude!

I guess it is one way to have a "lawn boy".

I love lving alone (except for my dog) It is my responsibilty to pay rent and the bills and dont have to worry about a roomate skipping out!!! Plus I dont have to put up with someones elses friends that I may OR may not like!!

Hey...if its your first time...you SHOULD be excited. It should be awesome for you to have ur own space,especially if u never really did until now. Let me know how it goes.
