I wonder where the heck all that tax money is going? Sure doesn't seem to be helping the economy any.

Went through the drive through yesterday and noticed cartons of Marlboros were 50.00!!! What's the price like in your area? I think some states are different, is that right? I tried to make my last carton my last , and ended up buying 2 packs of Basics (can we say nasty tasting?). Hopefully will buy no more. I get mine online, only way to get my bootleg ciggy's is online. Pay about 83ish dollars for two cartons. Carton of Marlboro here goes for about 39 something, Camel about 34 something. I work at a 7-11, everything there is ass high. I just read this again. Why do you pay 83 dollars for 2 cartons online, when you could get 2 cartons at your store for less than 80 dollars? |

they tax the crap out of them. what will happen when they are too expensive and we have to quit or get a 2nd job just to afford them? they will start losing a lot of tax dollars then I'm going to quit now. A girl has to have some spending cash to buy 4 inch wedge sandals for summer. Priorities you know!..... |

What is the availablity on blackmarket cigarettes in the states? In England prices are sky high but huge amounts of cartons are shipped over from Europe where the taz is a lot lower. I know that Blackmarket cigs are reasonably commonplace in Canada.

I don't know about black market cigs at all. I know there are all kinds of rules about how many cartons you can legally bring state to state or over from, say, Mexico or wherever.
Apparently if you buy online, those companies are supposed to keep records of your name and amount of cigs purchased. I have no idea who they report this too. Those of you buying online should check this out though. I don't know of one single place or person around me where I could go and buy some cigs under the table. I could get you a great bottle of moonshine though.... |

With the prices rising, it might not be so long before you do know someone. I hope not Dan. That last carton lasted me a long time. These 2 packs I bought extra and the price tag attached should be enough to turn me into a non-smoker. If it isn't, I need to seriously rethink my willpower. I'm rambling here......but when I wanted to get pregnant I quit my occasional smoking and didn't even think twice. Picked it up again 2 years later and it has been back and forth from heavy to occasional. It's high time to do something about it. 50 dollars a carton hopefully will be a good motivating factor. |
