Hello there, I was wondering if anyone had any views on amsterdam because im thinking of going next month for smoking purposes.

I love the place, have been there 3 times now.

But recently there has been a smoking ban.

Coffeeshops still get around this, apparantly, because the ban is on tobacco smoke only. I am assuming that nobody bothers to make sure that you dont mix your joints with tobacco.

It means though that the pubs/bars that used to allow you to roll up will no longer beable to, so no more booze and spliff at the same time.

Unfortunately, you'd better hurry if you wanna get some "smoking" in, as they just did a complete about-face with their traditionally-liberal attitudes toward the consumption of illicit substances. Basically put, you won't be able to do ANY tokin' or use of any other drugs anymore, nor will you be able to sample the various working girls out there.

The local government in Amsterdam have gotten rather tired of being seen as a haven for drug use and prostitution, and have decided to crack down HARD. So there'll be no smoking for you after a certain point.

Do you know what they are doing on smoking, apart from the smoking ban i talked about?

I cant see them stopping it unless they actually make cannabis illegal.

From what I saw on the news a couple of weeks ago, they're banning EVERYTHING. You can't go to a "Hash Bar" anymore, as they're now illegal... you can't puff out in the open... you can't be trippin' while out in public... and you can't have it on your person... and you can't purchase anymore. It's all taboo now, pretty much.

Essentially, it's ALL illegal out there now and you can thank the rubes who've essentially taking the privilege of the liberal drug scene there a little too far as of the last couple of years. The city leaders there essentially decided that they wanted Amsterdam to be known for its history and NOT for the rampant drug scene there.

Bulls!t. Will NEVER happen in Amsterdam. They make WAY too much money from tourists lookin to party legally.
