GOOGLE'S NEW AD PROGRAM RAISES PRIVACY CONCERNS

Earlier this week, Google launched what it calls interest-based advertising.

Basically, Google sets a cookie on your computer..

It then tracks your searches and page views.

This information is used to serve targeted ads to you.

Google says it will not track certain sensitive interests.

However, privacy advocates are concerned.

And many say Google is acquiring too much data on surfers.
Fortunately, you can opt out of the tracking.

Methods vary from browser to browser

Google has released tools to help you opt out permanently.

If you use IE or Firefox, you need only install a plug-in.

If you use a different browser, you must change its settings.

You’ll find instructions alongside the plug-ins for Firefox and IE.

Thanks for the info! Really not surprised as these suckers must have been plotting something nasty for a while.

Let me tell them Google the secret.

The world has already switched from using Internet Explorer to using Firefox. When you exit firefox, you can have it erase your cookies. Not only that, you can force it to keep every cookie in a separate container, so that other sites cannot see where you have been. Plus, it allows you to clean those jawa cookies, that are used today, not only the text ones. Better yet, it allows you to ban Firefox from ever accepting a cookie from Google.

So, we're OK, we just need to get off the IE and Chrome.
