The atmospheric pressure on Earth is 1.033 kg. per sq. cm. If a sheet of paper is placed over the mouth of a glass full of water and turned upside down, the atmospheric pressure on the paper will prevent the water from being subject to the force of gravity and spilling out of the glass.
I did not believe this, so i tried it..just now. I placed a sheet of regular copy paper, over a brimming full glass of water, and inverted it..the paper didn't even get wet, until i inadvertently lost my grip while returning it to an upright position.... I attribute it to physics though...i'm not convinced of alien life forms, but i wouldn't rule it out. it is false. the water experiences gravity and atmospheric pressure. Gravity effects me regardless of the 16 lbs of atmospheric pressure being exerted on my now. Learning science should start in the class room. gravity follows the inverse square law |

The water held inside the glass until I tilted it and an air bubble got in. This experiment is not about gravity anyway. The water still experiences gravity, it just holds in the glass because of the vacuum. This experiment is about demonstrating the way a space craft moves through our atmosphere by creating a vacuum in front of it that eliminates friction. Interesting experiment though. |

The government and the scientists can ignore them and refuse to talk about them or what they are but that does not make them disappear. Too many people have seen them. The government has nothing to do with it, neither any control of it and that's why they refuse to discuss it. Couple of reasons: 1. Every single piece of land on this planet (with the exception of some unhabitable locations) belongs to a government or under some sort of authority (at least they claim so) . Even space now, the close orbits around Earth, the Hubble telescope and the space station is claimed as a property or ownership by one more governments. It's only a matter of time when parts of Mars and the Moon begins to be subsidized and ownership declared over it, just to be in control and playing the game of who owns more over another. It's a silly immature game, no better than two 5 year olds fighting over the toys. Indeed, we are immature beings, trying to play games over ownership instead of looking at the big picture and see, that we are no more in this universe than an ant-pile in the African savannah. Look, even if an extraterrestrial spaceship would crash, we would have a bunch of bigot and immature politicans and an army jumping all over and claiming to be "theirs", because it happened to land or crash on a particular spot on this Earth. I don't blame the aliens if they are out there and dont' want to contact. It would be stupid. Aliens talking to any politician or persident, it would be like, trying to discuss rocket science with a 3 year old. Actually the 3 year old would be better suitable for 1st contact than any politician today. |

If you had a vehicle with Headlights that traveled at the speed of light. What would happen if you turned your lights on while traveling at the speed of light? Then the light would project as normal, The lumens (or candle power) would be the same at 1 mph, as it would be at 100 mph, and so on.. |

If you had a vehicle with Headlights that traveled at the speed of light. What would happen if you turned your lights on while traveling at the speed of light? It depends on what theory you want to be answered by. (As we can't do that in practice, we have to be satisfied with a theory.) According to Einstein, there would be no light projected, according to an observation by a bystander, with relation to whom the car is moving at the light speed. Of course, there also would be no headlight. That's not quite a "bummer". |

(Paraphrased by Jeanniebean, as told to Dino Kraspedon by an alien captain of one of them.) The atmospheric pressure on Earth is 1.033 kg. per sq. cm. If a sheet of paper is placed over the mouth of a glass full of water and turned upside down, the atmospheric pressure on the paper will prevent the water from being subject to the force of gravity and spilling out of the glass. Surprise, surprise! Nope, it wouldn't prevent the water from being affected by a force of gravity. bunch of baloney Creating the vacuum: There are no technical difficulties involved in producing an external vacuum. You know that cathode rays have the strange property of decomposing the atmosphere through which they pass. Under the action of these rays, the elements of the atmosphere revert to their etheric state. In addition to this we make cathode rays intersect the anode rays at an angle of 45 degrees. This we achieve by using high voltage and current. Looks like this author is really having fun with his audience. But, he forgot to mention the creation of the vacuum. Oops! another patch of baloney Ah, if I had skipped the school, I could have had so much fun with these kind of articles! |

try it, slowhand...i would have bet the same...in fact that is why i went to the kitchen, and saw for myself. didn't say that the experiment doesn't work. i was trying to say that the assumption that it negated gravity was false. i did this experiment a long time ago. re-read my post. oh yeah, and quiet's sticking the glass to the table trick works too. but there is an easy cheat - sliding the glass to the edge of the table and catching the water as it runs out in a 2nd glass held underneath the table... but it is funnier if they insist on trying to lift the glass off the center of the table causing a mini flash-flood. for an amusing variation do the upside down glass on the table trick with an extremely large mayonnaise jar or something like that... |

At light speed time effectivly stops for the object traveling at that speed, but even at that speed it would still be nearly impossible to travel intergalacticly. To go faster than light would effectivly be moving backwards thru time. That's where jump gates come into play. You know a cinularity or worm whole. |
