I don't like making preschool mandatory. From what I have seen and heard, kids who go to preschool do not do better than those who do not, unless they go to one of the elite preschools.
However, I am willing to put up with considerable bad policies in the bill if it means getting genuine schools of choice options. The cynic in me suspects that there will be some ugly hidden garbage in the bill to limit the ability of parents to fully take advantage of charter schools, but hopefully I am wrong. If Obama manages to get a really voucher system in education, that will help him get elected and likely lock up the black vote for democrats for a couple more decades. As bad as that is, it would still be worth it to get a better school system for the children. This the first Obama idea that could actually have some significant benefit for the country, and I will support it 100% if it really provides school choice. |

Still having a hard time with this concept huh guys? What you think of this or any president doesnt change that fact that he is OUR American president and Bush was our last. Get it? Guess not.. ugh Once again(a little louder this time)YOURS NOT MINE!! ok, really, that's enough.. like it or not, he drinks his coffee in the oval office and that's where his phone extension goes. he's the president. yours, mine, everybody's.. you might not like it but it the way it is. Wow, Raider. We actually agree on something. |

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama on Tuesday embraced a new approach to education that would reward good teachers, remove limits on charter schools and lengthen both the school day and the school year. What is your opinion on the longer days, and school year? My opinion is: "There goes the vacation time"! All year school year would prepare our kids for all year work when they grow up. Rewarding teachers is a great idea. They do something most of us working parents cannot do and that is teach our children. I think it is a good idea. Also it would help those working parents in the summer time when the kids are out of school to have something constructive to do. |

ok...this makes NO sense to me. regardless of if the person you voted for is in office....why want them to fail???? that would hurts the people. why gloat over it??? if the leaders fail....we the people will feel it. Yes,, Rose, if our President fails, the whole country fails. if your president is successful with what he's trying to do right now the whole country fails too. sorry if you don't understand that, right now i'm just killing time arguing with you two anyways. i'm bored. "Our President". Correction: "Your President"...not mine, as in "our president"! Just thought I would clarify that. JMO Hmmm...I did think that you lived in the United States. I do live in the USA, but that does NOT mean I have to accept the person elected by so many clueless people as MY president. I choose to be president-less, till a better choice comes along. This is my choice, and anything different would be dictatorship. I will not be forced into anything. That is JMO Still having a hard time with this concept huh guys? What you think of this or any president doesnt change that fact that he is OUR American president and Bush was our last. Get it? Guess not.. ugh Once again(a little louder this time)YOURS NOT MINE!! Louder won't help you. Ok one last time. From a historical perspective, our American president is Obama. Whether you accept him or not is irrelevant. He is still the president. If you want to wake up every morning and pretend he is not you clearly have that right as an american... Now if you didn't get that, I don't know what else to say. |

ok...this makes NO sense to me. regardless of if the person you voted for is in office....why want them to fail???? that would hurts the people. why gloat over it??? if the leaders fail....we the people will feel it. The reason why people want Obama to fail to push his ultra left wing socialist agenda through congress is because Obama's success is bad for America. It is no different than opposing Bush on the war, or tax cuts, or stopping some abortions. If you disagree with someones policies based upon strongly held principles, then you should want them to fail to do whatever harm you are opposing. |

let's drink his kool aid, because he says so. we shouldn't question him, he says he's gonna help us and i believe him. he's your president too so you should drink the kool aid too. what, the kool aids poison? no, he wouldn't do that to us, he said so. i think we should give him a chance until he screws up, i'm gonna drink that ole kool aid cause i believe he wants nothing but the good for us.

This is another example of him proposing some broad plan with no concept of how its going to be implemented, paid for, or actually produce results.

The question really was why would you be so insensitive to say you want him to fail knowing it would hurt a lot of americans. We already know they assume Obama is going to turn our country into socialism, it's not like we haven't heard it every day since he became president. |

Until the power of the NEA and the dominance of the public school system is ended, our kids will not get the quality education they deserve. |

Tax cheats, and lobbyist. GIVE ME A BREAK Obama has no idea what he is doing.. Next time someone should read his resume before hiring him. Sure there is. You just arent looking in the right spot. |

Because if Obama fails, our country will be much better off, and many people around the world who are likely to suffer because of Obama would be saved from his idiotic socialist agenda. Did you want Bush to succeed in every political position he took, or did you sometimes want Bush to fail to achieve his center right agenda? |
