Topic: How does one respond to just "HI" | |
---|---|
Fairly often, and I must say, it's mostly the younger guys, I get an email that just says "hey", or "how are you".
Do people consider it offensive if you don't respond? Something like that just leaves me at a loss for words. What does it take to say more than that? Is it a gender thing, or is it an age thing? |

Could be a 'stupid' thing.
But I am old so what do I know. I try to come up with something a bit more than that. |

No response seems to be the way

It’s not my fault that I fell for you, you tripped me!

I usually respond with, " Hello, thank you for the message. How are ya?" Or, "I am well thanks, and you?"
Simple quick, and still leaves room for the conversation to grow. Sometimes people (men and women) do not know what to say. If after a couple of messages you are still struggling to start up a conversation, then that is when I would have a hard time responding. |

probably no response. but then again, it seems no response is the norm even if you write a f'n novel to them.

If you can't say more than three words, well-- |

if I wanted to know more about someone I would just ask about them . Star a conversation. I guess that comes with age. Younger guys rely on the age I guess,

I will reply, however I'll reply with the same effort they put into their email. Half the time, I won't receive a response after that. |

Well isn't there a song that goes I had you from hello lol.
I most always start out by saying hi. I don't think there isn't much wrong with that, I might say how are you doing etc but I haven't bothered emailing no body else.. I'd kinda given up on this very site, I mean women on this site at least seem very well I am just not gonna say it but it doesn't hurt to reply back. But I understand no every body has the time to say hi how are you and go from there etc. I guess some people like my self use simple words as a conversation starter, like Hi.. hello etc. But I my self type a little bit more then that, in the body.. my subject might be hi and then something nice profile or I like your pics etc. But no body replys back to those things any more so go figure. |

If I email someone for the first time, I attempt to put a little effort into it. I'll at least comment on something interesting in their profile, or something we may have in common. Saying hi isn't putting any effort into it at all. |
