Farewell to the Kings

Our belief no more than a dream

The wisdom of ages

Diminishing in stages

As our progress of technology rages

The Camelot’s have crumbled through time

Now only our books remain as a shrine



Excalibur still belongs

To the owner of the mighty throne

Whilst the guardian lady of the lake now weeps

As our memories of the old now sleep

Just a story for our children to keep



Farewell to the Kings

The trees will speak from the book of Lore

As the sea still waits for the King who sat at the shore

The ancient spirits remain waiting by the door

When the spark of belief will refresh them once more



Legends can no longer fight the Bibles of men

With modern day heroes of Mohammad and Zen

The distant past no more than paper and pen

Destined to myth that will eventually end



Our Kings of old

Are now scattered to dust

Just as the sword in the stone

Now lies in rust
