Take a look at this thread: http://mingle2.com/topic/show/122097 It does work for some people! Not for me, but it does work for some people! i can't figure, you're super smart, and have a great heart, and maybe we should be recruiting scientist-doctors, that work in museums that are pretty, for those might be at your level more... just a thought. i think it might be intimidation without really trying, for your posts sometimes are incredibly intelligent, caring, and never biased as far as i have seen, but women read very deep and could be over-anylizing you, and wondering about the "nice guy" and too good to be true thing....just a thought.... |

I met an arsonist on another site -- and a newspaper columnist who wanted me to write her column for her -- and a phony kidnap victim -- I figure anything has got to be better than them....

Sometimes it seems more like dumpster diving to me.

also, if i was looking, i don't think i would do well on here at all. just my thoughts.

It's like looking for a four leaf clover. You might find one, but it takes a lot of looking. And in the past, every four leaf clover I've found was always at first glance when I wasn't looking for it.
Some say that finding love is like that. You find it when you've stopped looking for it. It finds you when totally unaware. Go figure? |

Sometimes it seems more like dumpster diving to me. well, for the most part, for the women, it is, merely because eighty percent of the men here are married, or rejects, so bad in real life, they couldn't get a date if they tried. they can be something they're not, on here, and women fall, and fall hard. i don't know how many are looking for their knight, and the e-mails from wayward guys they say, are rather discusting at the very least. and most of the guys here, are really just looking for the hook-up in sheep's clothing. |

Thank you for the kind words! And I think you may be on to something here -- I got a very nice e-mail this morning from someone I hadn't really interacted with before -- her opening was: "I have talked to (other member) about you because you intimidate the hell out of me," and then she went on to compliment my writing. We exchanged several more e-mails during the day, and I find her to be a truly caring and decent person. I've been hearing the "I" (intimidating!) word a lot lately -- and I must confess I'm having a hard time grasping the concept. It's just a bunch of stuff I write; it's not intended to have any impact whatsoever beyond making you laugh or making you think about something. It was this very thing that led me to create the "Arrogant Narcissistic Conceited Jerks" thread awhile back -- just having a little fun with people's perceptions. And I'm not sure anyone really got it. Well, if you talk to my friends here, you'll find none of them are intimidated at all -- they just know what to expect from me. And sometimes I do wonder if maybe this is somehow hurting my chances with people here -- maybe so -- but then I have to ask myself if I could really be interested in someone who didn't have the ability to see past mere words on a screen....? Or maybe I'm just rationalizing at that point, I don't know. |

For the record, Lex and Mirror are my two favorite men on this site. I admire both of them for many things. But they are both much younger and too far away from me. I would love to meet a guy with some of their qualities.

It's just a bunch of stuff I write; it's not intended to have any impact whatsoever beyond making you laugh or making you think about something. <snip> Well, if you talk to my friends here, you'll find none of them are intimidated at all -- they just know what to expect from me. But the thing is that showing the level of intelligence, wit and vocabulary in stuff that you " just write " is what can cause the intimidation. You may not be able to really see it, but that's not anything out of the norm. It's not the way you perceive what you are writing. It's what everyone else sees in your posts. Now, you don't come off as arrogant. But you DO come off as highly intelligent. Like you have said before, a lot of women say that they want an intelligent man. My line of thinking is that very few of the ones that say they want that, know what it actually means. I think ( and this in just my opinion ladies, so hold off on looking for a tree to hang me from ) that the vast majority of them don't realize what they are actually asking for. A guy with an IQ well into the triple digits will actually intimidate the hell out of them. Even, and especially, when the guy is not making any attempt at all to do so. The main line of thought is " This is the way he talks all the time??? " Then they realize that " intelligent " doesn't really mean 1 step above grunting and knuckle dragging. |

It's nice to know that someone notices, and is not so "intimidated" by the occasional seventeen-syllable word that she can't say something positive....! |
