The elves see you trying to open the bottle. A couple of days later, you wake up not remembering much, still tangled in the net. You are dizzy from dehydration and your body aches. Not knowing what was in the bottle, the elves were not going to take any chances. Fortunately, they spared your life, but a quick search reveals that they took everything you owned except Blitzerun. Injured and feeling helpless, you finally unravel yourself from the net and struggle to your feet. Your legs cramp and you hobble to Blitzerun. You climb stiffly onto his back and ride down the dirt pathway.
When you reach the edge of the Mystic Woods, you are relieved to find that you are in Gandornia. Situated on the side of a mountain, the town overlooks a valley. In the valley are rolling fields of grass planted in patches with vegetable gardens. Farmers are ambling back to their cottages after a hard day’s work in the fields, and interspersed in the stream of people are mounted guards, escorting the carriages of high-ranking officials to the town gates. The town is in great shape and you wonder why there has not yet been an encounter with the shadows. Wolves howl at the rising full moon beyond the town, and you feel uneasy. Keeping Blitzerun at a steady gallop, you ride towards the front gate. Guards in the gatehouse watch your approach. Torches hang on either side of the gates, flames flickering in a light wind. You slow your approach and look to the guards, who signal their permission to pass with a nod. The crest of the Delorian Empire is displayed across the iron gate, making you feel more secure. Entering the marketplace, which has closed for the night, you imagine the sights and sounds of merchants buying and selling goods. Bells ring in the dome north of the marketplace, and the footsteps of a few guards echo between the walls of buildings, one of which announces its presence with a large sign. Hopping off Blitzerun, you read the sign: “The Green Dragons Inn.” To the east are a few buildings with lit windows, but nothing else draws your eye. In need of some good sleep, you decide to go to the inn and inquire about available rooms. The old door to the Green Dragons Inn creaks as you push it open. Music and all conversation stop as people around the bar stare at you. Hungry and exhausted, you walk inside and close the door. As you are about to introduce yourself, the bard in the corner begins playing his guitar and a few people at the bar begin singing about their hero, Maddox. Others resume their conversations and you are thankful that their attention is elsewhere. A fat, bald headed man welcomes you to the inn. His name is Ogar, owner of the inn, and he slams a mug of black, strong-smelling ale in front of you. 1. If you want to talk to Ogar type 1. 2. If you want to ask for a room type 2. 3. If you are curious about the locals and wish to stay awhile type 3. 4. If you want to take a look at your character sheet type 4. |

You take a big gulp of the ale and give Ogar two gold pieces from your leather pouch that somehow the wood elves managed to not take from you.
(You have 18 gold pieces left) “Nothing better than a big mug of ale after a long day riding,” quips the innkeeper. His voice is powerful and calming, and he dips into a long-winded recounting of Gandornia’s history. “It was once a fort to protect the townspeople against the Shadow Force five centuries ago. Now it thrives, safe from all troll attacks. In those days, with the help of King Delorian, King Harnisch I’s father, and his army, a powerful magician named Maddox defeated the Force and drove them out forever. Maddox collected three magical items, the Paladin’s Sword, the Shield of Enlightenment, forged by the Paladin’s god, Mubacai, and Emperor Zane’s talisman, all of which he needed to help win this war. After it was over, Maddox disappeared and hasn’t been seen since.” Ogar goes on, explaining that the town is full of wonderful shops and that the Green Dragons Inn, of course, has the finest sleeping quarters in all of Gandornia. 1. If you want to ask for a room type 2. 2. If you are curious about the locals and wish to stay awhile type 3. 3. If you want to take a look at your character sheet type 4. |
