Bush was the best thing to ever happen for progresives and liberals. He made us realize that the republicans if given power can actualy destroy america and and make it a "free market" paradise inhospitable to people.

America hasn't been a free market since the 1800s.

You know, I never really looked at it that way before, but now that you mention it; wasn't the purpose of the IRS to be for war reconstruction after the Civil War?

If that's the case, we've been doing war reconstruction for almost 150 years.....

My...how times have changed......

IIRC, the IRS was founded during the civil war to fund it. I can't remember exactly but I know it was founded around the time of the war. I got a brief history in my taxation class but that wasn't the important part of the class so I really don't remember.

And since free market = no outside intervention, we have not had a truly free market since the Sherman Anti-Trust Act. Ever since then, it's been a downhill slide. It had good intentions but set a dangerous precedent, culminating in the bailouts we've experienced in the last few months.

Where is Madisonman? I was hoping to hear his Opinion on this Subject...

Limbaugh '12.... That sounds GREAT!!!!!!!

Oh no, Rush would be like taking this country back 100 years except with bad leadership instead of the good ones we had. He would do worse to this country than Bush did and we still have yet to see the full results of Bush"s debacle.noway huh

In all fairness....Obama's not doing all that hot either. Check out the stock market. Evidently, the investors don't have much faith in him or his policies, so they are pulling their money out, causing the dow to drop. This is partially responsible for the economic crisis we keep hearing about.

But..the economic crisis started before Obama became President.

That is not the issue at all. The stock market is suppose to be up and down for a while now. It is expected because of the recession and the housing upheaval and job losses, etc.... It doesn't have anything to do with Obama.

The stock market has been mostly down. It just seems to me that investors don't have any faith in Obama's policies, or they would be investing more. I think the issue has to do with all the bail outs we keep handing out like candy to places like AIG and some of those other companies. Not everything has to do with Bush.

Bush is at fault here for the most part. Had he been any kind of a man of the people this would not have happened. He had the opportunity to stop it along the way.

sorry andrew, the IRS was constructed in 1913 to be the collection agent of the federal reserve. we had certain taxes and such before 1913 but they weren't collected by the IRS.you can go to their website and they tell you what year they were founded. 1913.

What to expect of an oil-business man as a president? And now a lawyer (Obama), I do have more faith in Obama, since he actually got more brain, but he surrounds himself with people that shouldn't be there at all. All those ex-Clinton people and others who push an agenda and they are biased by many things, instead of working on the problems.

I respectfully disagree. It was a combination of presidents. I don't think all the blame should be put on his son. Some of it maybe, but I think in all fairness; Carter (DEFINATELY not my favorite), Johnson, Bush Sr., Clinton, etc. are all to blame for this mess.

obama is doing the same thing bush was doing, that's why the market has now dropped below 7000 this has always been known as a very scary thing for walstreet. please understand that when bush dropped the reigns obama picked them up and is carrying out the same agenda. you have been mesmorized by his swoonful speakings.

I agree, that pretty much we can drive back all the way to the great depression with the presidents, although a few stand out. My favorite is JFK, and Teddy R.
Those 2 , the others ..not so much.

Yes, I agree. JFK in my opinion was the last really good Democrat in the White House. I wish the other Democrats would at least strive to try to do the good things he did while in office.

T. Roosevelt was VERY good as well! He was VERY pro Natural Parks/Resources and that is one of the top things I look for in a Presidential Candidate.
