And catches that quick glint in her eyes.

He thinks,
“Well, what the hell?”
As she ducks her head,
Her quick gasp
Becomes a choking cough.

The telltale blush
Suffusing her face
Clears the confusion
from his brain.

It’s nothing he’s done.
She’s not mad (in an angry sense).
Somethin’s set her mind off
On a wild tangent.

“Well, I’ll be damned”,
Flits through his mind
As he realizes, for her,
He has no need to catch up.

‘Cause whatever thoughts
Darkened her eyes of blue
To that, “I’m lost in you”
deeper tinged hue.

Surrounded nobody
But him, her,
And mmmmmm
Her ima-gin-a-tion.
