Oh. Who woulda thought otherwise? :))
The only couple of times I got mind-numbingly drunk were in South Korea (I was working on a movie there back in 2000), and in Panama (I was working on another movie back in 2004)- the latter decent into drunkenness was more titanic as I was essentially driven to drink. DRIVEN, I tells you! |

DRIVEN, I tells you! Riiiiiiight!!!!!! Well... it WAS a Christian-based production that was filming in Panama, you know? Not only were they skimming production money left-and-right, but they had to do it under the guise of "doin' the lord's work", too. The hours were horrible, the powers-that-be were inept (as well as crooked as all heck), and -worst of all- they had the nerve to keep calling my hotel room at five in the morning on Sunday to "see" if I was interested in attending their makeshift services and stuff. So yeah- they DID drive me to drink! |
oh man that sucks.... |
Yeah. It was four months of total kaa-kaa in the Panamanian jungle.
And the WORST part was that -after principal photography was finished and everybody was flying back home- the powers-that-be NOT ONLY liquidated the corporation they originally produced the film under to start a whole new business entity (to get out of paying individuals and other business entities they owed money to), but they also changed the status of said corporation as well, going from "non-profit" to "profit" status. They had used their non-profit status thing to pressure everyone on the crew to work for less money and give them deals on equipment rentals and stuff, which was essentially a rather elaborate scam on their part. So -in the end- the movie was nothing more than a tax write-off on the part of some religious charlatans from the mid-west. The movie wasn't even that good either, as the directorial effort was rather amateurish. Heck- I coulda done a better job on my worst day. |

Wow scandalous...

Wow scandalous... "Scandalous" would imply that I was at least gettin' some, which I wasn't. "Ignominious" is probably a more-accurate thing to call my experiences down there. Panama itself is a great country with great people and scenery. Just don't go there if you're on a Christian-themed motion picture production. |

They are scandalous... Well at least you enjoyed something about it...
