What is the cut-off age to join the military? I've gotten alot of answers but no one realy knows for sure. I've never been in. Some of the recruiters don't even know for sure. They said it depends. Can some one tell me? I'm thinking of joining. I'm 38, but in great shape. Help anyone?

What is the cut-off age for joining the Air Force?

Non-prior service applicants must be in Basic Military Training before their 28th birthday. Officer Training School applicants must be commissioned prior to their 35th birthday. Physician, Nurse and Allied Health applicants must be in Commissioned Officer Training before their 40th birthday. Prior service applicant age limitations may differ from what is stated above. Prior service applicants should contact their local recruiter for age cut-offs.

It depends what your MOS (millitary occupation specialty) you want to be.

I would say the toughest one is of course Infantry, it requires the most physical fittness out of all, especially if you are planning to go to Ranger School or other Special Forces. I spent 6yrs in the military as an infantryman..I've met some old figures there although they were in other MOS, cook, truck driver etc...

As i said, it really depends on what you want to do within the military and what branch are you going for (USArmy, Marines,Navy,Air Force) I should mention, that at age 38..well things are getting very limited, forget about the infantry I would say.....although I had a lot of fun, if I would go back, I'd choose something else, but that's me.
