Is it right for a doctor to treat a patient that smokes any different
than a patient that doesn't Is it right for a doctor in a mass production office to blame a misdiagnosis on the fact that the person smokes and not the fact that they rushed through and didn't check the person out right. |

No, not right at all in my opinion. Smoking is a personal choice, just like drinking and you should not be 'judged' on it. If your doctor is rushing you through, might be time to find a new doc.
Best of luck |

<----- fathers a damn good doctor my dad works in a private office so i cat really speak if youre talking abour a big university hospital system or a cleveland clinic but a doc is a doc and his job is to be blunt and direct. he or she should not fo any reason to belittle you for what you do but if smoker comes into the office all upset with his emphazemia and the doc knows hes a smoker he may bring it to your attenntion. shouldnt belittle you but people arent always happy to hear the truth. besides most of the people these docs see dont have health insurance and have no means of paying for their treatment so bear with them if they seem short with you

That is so wrong on many levels. It is the doctor's responsibility to read the chart carefully. Especially the patient's health history including any habits that may effect their health. |

I didn't even get a chance to finish my paper work and she told me not to worry about it. just pushing me right on through and collect that insurance money |

well she would need a chest xray to diagnosis pneumonia anyhow If your breathing sounds like pudding in it you get a chest xray she only listened to the top part of my lungs in the back my doc listened to like 8 spots on both lungs front and back and said to go right away to get a chest xray |

You should have had a chest xray no matter what....to confirm any diagnosis
What I don't understand is that the doctor is the person you should go to for help with quitting smoking so why would they pass you off to anyone else. They should have told you about the different programs available and discussed with you what options are best for you based on your medical history |

the medical system has gone mad...and i no longer totally blame the insurance companies.
obvisouly the doc was overwhelmed and your diagnosis was quick and wrong... at least it wasnt lung cancer....... |
