Mr.Ben
My friend Mr. Ben Well he’s a friend of mine Mr. Ben he is a friend of mine He met a girl at a groceries store She dropped her apples on the floor He’s picked them up and she wants more And he’s a friend of mine Yes Mr. Ben he is a friend of mine Tired eyes and cigarettes They’ll be making promises they’ll forget She’ll send him a postcard when she gets home And pretend there together on the telephone Mr. Ben It’s his first date So he asks her were would she like to go And her reply was a cinema show So with excitement He buy’s some flowers Now he sits in his room and he’s counting the hours Time is an autograph And Mr. Ben is a friend of mine So off the go To the cinema show so the back row Well Mr. Ben’s so shy So she rests her hand upon his thigh But he remembers the words that his mother said Now don’t be late and go straight to be And it’s a tragedy Mr. Ben he is a friend of mine. Tired eyes and cigarettes She’ll be making promises she’ll forget Then send you a postcard when she gets home And pretend you’re together when you’re all alone. |
