Fears of Devolution
Trembling in your arms In your arms Of devolution Trembling in my fears In your fears Of constitution Waking up in the dead of night Feeling so cold Were growing old I changed my eyes Nothing new No revelation I turned to touch Touch your skin With hesitation The photographs are burning now To keep us warm Ashes blow away Tell me now is this what life is meant to be Bliss I sold my soul for Is this eternity? Who turned the lights out? And threw away the key Was it really you? Or was it me. The TV is still on Still on But tuned into no station I light a cigarette Chewed the smoke No consolation The phoenix rose and died away It won’t be coming back Another day Tell me now is this what life is meant to be Bliss I sold my soul for Is this eternity? Who turned the lights out? And threw away the key Was it really you? Or was it me. |
